Windy I have to refer to a post in your "Scouts Take on Prospects" thread. The article from the Milwaukee Journal sums up my thinking on these guys as well where it refers to Carimi as most ready to play now and a solid but probably not elite OT. Sherrod is rated as a "hit or miss" guy but smarter than average.
That says it all to me pal. We need a guy who can play now whether he comes in FA or the draft I care not. I want a guy who can knock people on their a$$es too and not somebody who tries to outhink them, LOL. (being facetious here).
Liuget is also surprising some. If we could bring in a LT (Clabo/Gaither?) in FA I'd surely like to see us move up to get this guy if we could.

I'm not too keen on Jared Gaither coming in to play for the Bears due to a lack of smarts (he flunked out of school at the University of Maryland). I would like to see Tyson Clabo playing for the Bears. Tyson Clabo is from my hometown of Knoxville, TN, and attended Farragut High School. There have been a lot of great players come out of this area that Tennessee never recruited (Chad Pennington being one of them, and in this year's draft, Randall Cobb out of Alcoa being another), and I hated to see that. Just once, I would like to see a guy who has gone on to be successful in this league from my hometown play on my favorite team. Clabo should be a Bear, and would make one hell of an addition to the team.
In this case, I think that I might consider drafting Mike Pouncey in the first round if we are unhappy with our position in the draft in terms of OT. Pouncey looks like, if Windy's mock draft holds true, he could be had by us, and we are needing someone to either take over at G or become the C in training under Olin Kruetz.

If Clabo is the guy we want for an immediate no doubt about it upgrade at LT then I say we use that #1 for our DT. Good penetrating DT's are always in short supply and this draft has several including likely mid-late 1st rounders, Liuget and Paea, and a couple of early-mid second rounder, Austin and Nevis. When you can get one the rule of thumb is that you take him.
That's my take on it anyway. I also think that we can get an OG in FA and then select another OG/C anywhere from the second to the fourth round. If we can sign a WR like Floyd or even Burress, if he can still play, then we open up the draft to all kinds of possiblities.
