I'm in agreement with mo on this one. I'd like to see them move him back out to LT as well although I don't think I'd cut the guy if someone else beat him out. I don't see him as a utility lineman either. That spot goes to Omiyale who to me was a much bigger mistake than the drafting of Williams was.
As time moves on I'm beginning to see this years crop of OT's as being less talented overall than I originally thought. To me Carimi and Costonzo are the only ones who I think may be able to step in and play immediately. If we pick one of those guys I say let CWill compete with him for the start at LT. It would be good for both of them and in either case we get an upgrade over Omiyale.
I have a lot of trust in Tice to get whatever he needs in FA and the draft this year to keep up his momentum in the rebuilding of the line.

this is the thing that sucks the most is that we put ourselves in a position of failure. We either are going to pay out of our ass for a new oline, stay with the current turds and use the end of last season an excuse that they were doing better, or reach for inferior talent in the draft. This is why neglecting the oline has cost us more then people think. I think buying a new oline is the best option as of right now with what we see happening

And think the turning of peppers RB into a SB is IMO a sign that may be what angelo/tice are thinking also and freed up some space if decide to go that way.. Just hope a CBA can be done befre draft so not up in air all summer..
this scenario right now without a cba got to be the worst nightmare for gms around the league lol

Oh yeah!..got to be driving teams nuts..you have college scouts humping players "A" and "B" "C" for your holes.. you have the pro scouts talking about how IF F/A is open you can have "D" "E" and "F" fill the holes, and usually you can decide between the 2 and have a month with the F/A pool to see who, even after you decide want- can work out a contract and terms,,, and then in draft fill in rest..
The idea of having to "roll the dice" about Free Agency, really risky and can really blow up on a team in 2011, if think Certain players perfect to fill a hole, but either because of the new rules don't get F/A.. or another team outbids with a ridiculous offer you shouldn't match, can really alter the 2011 season projections- not going to be a fun time or for faint of heart if have to draft w/o knowing the F/A market

I could see buying the inside help we need but I still think a team needs to draft and develop it's OT's. Especially the LT.
Webb seems to be ideally suited for RT and I think that now that he's had some starting experience there that's where he should stay. Williams has never really gotten the time in he needs at LT with an OG playing next to him that knows his job and does it well.
I say we get that OG and give CWill his chance. He was drafted as an OT and we already know that he can't play RT and he's not the earth mover we need at OG so put him back at LT and let Tice get him coached up to play and protect.

that would be fine by me also... As said have trust in Tice, and if get the holes fille by F/A and Draft, i do not care WHO is where or starts, as long as best 5 out there and can be a top unit

He simply is not the best OT on the team and the sad part is that he never was.
I rewatched the Lions Game [Game 1] on the NFL Network and Williams was borderline awful at LT.
He has no technique and his arms cannot save him. The guy has explosive feet and that is it.
BUST.

LOL, saying he's not the best tackle on the team isn't saying much when all you have to compare him to is OMG, Schaffer, and a rookie. CWill isn't a true OG either and instead of keeping our hopes up I'd like to see Tice bring him up to LT standards and it it doesn't work we cut him.
