And FWIW, I don't think Solder's only problems are simply technical ones. He needs to get in the weight room. His knee bend becomes less and less as the game wears on. That coupled with the fact that I don't think he can drive block all too well tells me that he needs to get stronger in the lower body (he also needs to get stronger in the upper body too).

which to me wouldnt be a bad idea. We can use that extra cap money to use on FA olinemen instead of a reach OT like we did with Chris Williams when Kiper hyped him up from the third round to the first round cause he has a "quick burst" lmfao.
And Solder isnt all that and even worse is Sherrod. I say go FA all day for the oline and do what we do best for the defense and add some young talent to the aging defense. The offense can use some solid vets on it cause it isnt working the way it was built currently.

the only reason why any of the OT in this draft deserve first round grabs is cause there are plenty of desperate teams for oline talent. This is one of the worst drafts oline wise I have seen in awhile

Rather take a top '3' DT at 29 than trade down if Leuiget or the somoan is there, and use F/A for the Oline starters

I like the idea of addressing OT in Free Agency, which will free us up to not have to reach on OT at the back end of the 1st round.
I am far more impressed with the OG talent in the draft Pouncey, Cannon, Boling, Franklin, Carpenter make me feel far safer in the 2nd round then going for Carimi at 29.

yeah if he is there of course but that is a big IF. If the IF becomes Nevis Im trading out and taking him in the second. I dont think he will make it to our pick I have a feeling Indy might take him

With the 5 month old at home, I haven't been able to give the draft class a good look. But I did take the time to look at Solder a little bit, and yeah, he's a project. I think he could be good in time (assuming he has a good work ethic). I just don't see him as Tice's kind of guy either. But you're right, I think in a lot of other draft classes, he's a 2nd rounder or maybe later.
Like I keep saying, I think C Will should be given a shot at LT and we should focus on addressing the interior of the line.

agreed,, and that's what always makes the draft so intersting, the what if's and who actually gets taken and then the "counter moves".. and if dropping back how far and who wants your 29th, which is why ideally move back to mid 50's before indy goes

Yep, and when you see him in photos or in person he really looks like an oversized TE which is what he was when he first came to CU. If anyone could picture Kellen Davis with about 30lbs more on him they'd be looking at Solder's body type. The guy may turn out to be a very good pass blocker but as you say, unless he gets stronger and learns to run block better he'll never be that great.
He's more the kind of OT that you use in a zone blocking scheme like the Broncos ran for years. If they were looking for a OT Solder would definitely be their kind of guy but I don't see him as a Tice kind of Olineman at all.
