You pass up on huge first round contract, for a guy who could have just as much potential like a J Webb or Knox at late round money.
you save a buck AND get the talent we need.
I trust we'll do just fine.... if the Draft even Happens that is.
It will happen. It's FA that's threatened and that's exactly just what we don't need. It will be far more difficult to draft before FA then after IMO.

I, like most everyone.... would like to see one of the top three linemen make it to 29. well... top three by popular oppinion (nobody's gonna know for sure till this time next year)
Tyron smith
Nate Solder
Gabe Carimi
if that doesn't happen or isn't likely to happen, I'd like to see us go for a DT.
if none of that is likely/possible I think trading down would be the best option. however... if we have options in the first and trade out, I'll join everyone in punching their Jerry Angelo Voo-Doo dolls right in the offspring generating station.

Picking up on that scene, if we trade out of the first what can we be expected to get in return?
Seems with the 29th we cant expect all that much...if it were a 10th...

Here's a guesstimate for you.
Top 5 in 2nd rd = early 4th rounder
Next 5 in 2nd rd = late 3rd rounder
Next 5 in 2nd rd = mid 3rd rounder
These are averaged in each range to determine what round and what spot early, late or mid we'd pick up on a trade down. I didn't do more because I couldn't see us dropping any farther back than pick 15 in the 2nd round and probably not even that far back. More likely in the top 10 of 2nd round if at all.

IDK why everyone is so worried about trading down. As long as they dont get too cute with the picks its a sound plan if you ask me

My mock shows the Bears drafting a 2nd baseman as well as a catcher.
Hey... it's has an equal chance of happening as what this guy says...

I have us drafting a QB in the second, that also pitches relife for the Cubs. LEFT HANDER of course.
Lovie will have him punting by August.

Goal accomplished.
I would have said the bears are going to trade up to land a player they need badly.

Well there's a first time for everything. Maybe they plan to trade up for a CB or WR.

Only if they start on special teams.
