Well. The NFL has made one change for the QB. After an interception no one is allowed to touch the QB anymore. He becomes a non factor and can not get involved in the play after an INT. At least that is what I thought I heard them saying on the radio the other day
Had not seen that, and sounds more like a sports radio idea than anything real.. Makes no sense, if a Qb throws an INT in the flat and ony man to beat he must stand there? or like happened to bears with rodger's he can't touch urlacher? got any link?
Ok found it.. the Qb can still make a tackle, but he wll be classified as a 'defensless player for fines( but not sure about penalties, seems can still hit him, but subject to fines if flagrant( sort of like a late hit on a throw)!.. not sure how that is going to work..

The league looks at two years worth of plays to determined repeat offenders.
Rules defining a defenseless player will be expanded and now will include eight categories:
• A quarterback in the act of throwing;
• A receiver trying to catch a pass;
• A runner already in the grasp of tacklers and having his forward progress stopped;
• A player fielding a punt or a kickoff;
• A kicker or punter during the kick;
• A quarterback at any time after change of possession
• A receiver who receives a blind-side block;
• A player already on the ground.

Thanks DB

As to the QB on any change of possession, aren't they talking about hits to the head or neck only. That's what the rule forbids. This just seems to define the who's and when's.
There asking for trouble with that QB in the act of throwing thing though. If he's in the act of throwing wouldn't a rush man go for the shoulders and arm. That puts the QB's head and neck squarely in the target zone. To me the whole rule on this sucks. Sacks are another exciting play for the fans and this shit will just reduce the number of them and potentially have guys like Peppers serving a suspension for nothing more than a hard clean hit.
Why don't they just paint a 3'x3' box on the field and let the QB retreat to that and rule that you can't tackle him or even obstruct him while he's in that box, LOL. It wouldn't be any more ridiculous than the rule we have today.
Yeah, you could be right Soul, as said needs MORE DEFINING.. and 100% about the "qb throwing bs".. really sick and tired of protecting the Qb's...esp when a DE is just doing his job and because at 6'5 or 6'6".. simple physics will ahve him sometimes hitting the head even after a legit tackle/hit as has happened with peppers.. they can't stop in mid-motion and make sure the miss the head .. and as long as not leading with the helmet... ridiculous to fine/suspend for it
reminds me of the time( can't remember exactly who, but think was alphonso boone ), when one of our our fatties legitimately sacked the the qb and got a 15 yard "roughing" penatly for the "excessive use of weight on qb"...like he can magically control his weight and how falls on someone
