But if we went into the season with Williams, Webb and Omiyale I feel the most comfortable with Webb at LT then Chris and Frank.
Epic fail, my friend. Epic fail. J'Marcus Webb will be caught taking a nap and Jay Cutler will wind up either with another concussion or another bum knee. At least Chris Williams has experience. Omiyale has experience, but he sucks a large walrus's nut sack; watch the Green Bay game the day after New Years for verification. The only way to address this matter is to either buy a free agent or to draft someone. Frankly, I would rather draft a player and worry about the OG position in free agency.

And to answer your reply again, I am not comfortable at all with any of your choices. I think picking one over the other would be like trying to pick one evil over another. I think, though, if given a choice, I would rather see Chris Williams at LT since he has proven to be malleable for every offensive line coach he has ever had. Webb can barely hold up the rear at RT; why screw around with him by taking him out of his comfort zone and trying to do with him the way Chris Williams has been mishandled? Omiyale does not need to even be on this roster, so the sooner he is gone, the happier I will be.

Haha, then you better get Cutler some pillows so he'll be comfortable too. With as much time as he'll be spending on his backside early in the season he'll appreciate them. Webb still has to learn how to pass protect at RT first before you put him up against the Dwight Freeney's of the league. That's not gonna come to him in one preseason IMO.

You are absolutely correct. J'Marcus Webb is more like statue than any offensive tackle I have seen on the right side of the line. We often talk about how his foot work is lacking, like he shuffles too much instead of slides along to match up against the 5-T's of the world. I watched him in the game against the Packers on January 2nd and even in the NFC Championship Game, and Clay Matthews, Jr was bull-rushing past him easily, even knocking him flat on his back. When Webb was not allowing OLB/DE get past him, he was the culprit of too many holding and false start penalties. He has the potential to be very good, but I think he needs to be kept at RT for this season so he can become a little more familiar with the role he began to pick up some on toward the end of this year.

I get an arguement (although not unfounded) from sox everytime I mention Carimi as a LT so I can't see how Webb would be any better a LT prospect next year than Carimi. If Carimi is a born RT then Webb is even more so unless Tice is on to something I can't see just yet.

Not many good NFL LT's have come from the 7th round of the draft. Hell we have daily disageements over guys who are gonna be first rounders. I'd hate to see what this would be like if we roped in the 2nd tier guys too. And now we want to kick around the idea of using our 7th round pick. If it worked that would be a better success story than Michael Oher.

I am not a believer in moving a RT over to LT, no matter how good he might be. Those are two completely different positions with two completely different sets of responsibilities. What if Carimi screws up royally at LT? The foot work is completely different, and from what I have read, he used to have real problems with that in his first three years at Wisconsin. This is why I am for Sherrod, because he is a natural LT.

Carimi is too good a lineman not to find a home somewhere in the NFL. To be honest with you he's the kind of guy Indy seems to like and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him go there. IMO he's gonna be a good OT with the right team. Maybe the Bears and Martz's offense is not the right place but he'll do well somewhere.

LOL, NFL.com has four of their top contributors doing their 3/31/11 1st round mocks. They're as split as we are.

    1) Solder
    2) Carimi
    3) Wilkerson
    4) Paea

That's two for the OT spot and two for the DT spot which breaks down to about how we often see it around here as well. I can't see Solder unless Tice plans on moving Williams back to LT while he coaches Solder into the player that many think he can become. Carimi is the more logical choice is they don't plan on doing that.

Wilkerson just strikes me as a 3-4 DE and not a 4-3 UT but I don't deny that he has talent. I'd be surprised if he goes to a 4-3 team tough. Paea is far more likely to me either here or in the early second and Austin, although not mentioned, could creep into the mix as well.

The point is that not even the so called experts seem to agree and if you look at two or three more mocks you'll see Liuget, Pouncey, and Sherrod mentioned as well. Should get even more interesting as the month progresses and the NFLPA's case gets to court on April 6th.
