NFP: Inside the Bears Draft Room
http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/...raft-room.html
Interesting discussion of Webb and LT.
Carimi at 29.
5-6 players or trade down.
WR in the 1st round because Jay Cutler loves big WR.

Frankly, I don't know why we even argue over it when it rarely goes our way to begin with.

This is why the NFP material is so interesting is that Gabriel was in the Bears war room for a number of years and could be looked at as an expert when it comes to Jerry Angelo.
I do not know how Webb moving to LT affects the draft.
-Do we start looking for RT options?
-Do we sign a RT like Clabo or Harris and start looking at interior OL?
-Do we ignore the OL in the 1st round and focus on OG and Cs in the 2nd-4th rounds?
This Webb moving to LT thing probably takes Derek Sherrod and Nate Solder out of contention as they seem like pure LT prospects.

But Angelo was the one who let Gabriel go so you can bet that there were a number of disagreements between the two as well. The one thing that I agree on is that JA won't reach for a position when there are guys still on the board who rank ahead of it. They all seem to agree that the Bears will be looking for an Olineman first though.
Still don't know where this idea to move Webb comes from but it doesn't make sense to me. It could be just misinformation to mislead other teams into thinking a LT is not their target. Or they could have made the decision to take a DT in the first and a RT in FA and let Webb and Williams compete at LT. Who knows about any of it other than the fact that JA won't tip his hand any any news out of the Bears these days has to be taken with a grain of salt.

I could easily see this Webb to LT stuff coming true for a number of reasons.
-Multiple news outlets have discussed the facts that the Bears want to move Webb to LT.
-We know the team is incredibly high on Webb.
-He progresses last year and showed that he can play at the NFL level.
-At 6'8" 335lbs with long arms he has the look of a LT.

It's interesting that even Gabriel agrees that Jay loves big WR's yet they didn't get him one. The Webb thing has legs but I think Gabriel meant Jennings not Jenkins for big CB's.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.
Restore the roar!

I see it as more misinformation than truth. If you do that you have Webb at LT in his first full year in the NFL at that spot and Williams at LG in his first full year in the NFL at that spot. Don't you think that's taking a big chance structuring the blind side that way? Now if you draft Pouncey and play him at LG you've essentially get two rookies playing the left side of the line. Why doesn't that seem like a bad idea to you?
As for Webb I'm not sure if he can play LT or not. Remember, up until the end of the season he was a turnstile in pass protection and allowed more sacks than any other lineman at RT!!!! You take a big risk putting him on the blindside when ypou've always been so adamant about protecting Culter.

Let Webb develop as a RT he doesnt have the qickness to play LT. If it was me not one job on this oline is safe and I would have a three year plan to replace all 5. But it is what it is and Webb is in no way shape or form a LT.

I have heard this too. On the NFP film (I think it was the NFP you showed us), it said that the Bears were interested in shuffling the deck and moving J'Marcus Webb over to LT.

You are absolutely correct. Remember, Windy, that Webb did not start coming around until the very latter part of last season around the Minnesota game, in which he played remarkably well in comparison to his previous performances. Still, he was the guilty party of too many holding and false start penalties. I agree with motownbear that we need to start a three year plan to work toward completely retooling the Bears offensive line because it is pretty horrible as it sits, no matter how much they improved during the course of the year. Remember: the only reason they did not give up more sacks from the Bills game on forward was because we ran the ball down the opposing defenses' throats literally half the time. It had little to nothing to do with the execution of the offensive line.

I agree with everyone here that we should leave Webb at RT and let him develop and dominate out there. I am simply putting out there and looking at all of the angles that we are hearing about.
In my perfect world we get a LT in the draft and free agency and we just keep the young guys where they are.
But if we went into the season with Williams, Webb and Omiyale I feel the most comfortable with Webb at LT then Chris and Frank.
