    Tice to Pouncey: "See you in training camp"

    During an interview at his pro day...

    Maybe Mike Tice had a hint of humor in his tone when he huddled with top offensive line prospect Mike Pouncey at Florida's Pro Day, but the Bears line coach's parting words gave Pouncey every indication he aced the interview.

    "Coach Tice told me he'd see me at training camp,'' Pouncey said with a laugh. "Well, we'll see what happens.''

    I would not be shocked if we traded even more like this years 3rd to get to 20.

    I hope the Bears aggressively go after the guy they want.

    LT: Harris/Gaither [FA]
    LG: Williams
    C: Pouncey [Draft]
    RG: Garza
    RT: Webb

    That is huge improvement.

    More like

    LT=Williams,Omyale
    LG=Blalock or Nicks
    C=pouncy
    RG=Garza
    RT=Clabo, Webb

    then next year definitly get Garza replacement and if Williams truly sinks we got to get a LT. A perfect two year scenario to having one of the best olines in football after its been neglected and trashed for over ten years of JA watch

    Pouncey won't replace kreutz the first year. I see him playing guard.

    We have another thread precisely on this subject that was started by dabears54. This thread might could be combined with the other thread.

    With that said, here is my pick at offensive line, assuming we draft Pouncey:

    LT: Williams, Omiyale
    LG: Joseph
    C: Pouncey, Kruetz
    RG: Blalock/Nicks, Garza
    RT: Clabo, Webb

    I know this is all a dream, but imagine if we drafted Pouncey in the first round and then signed three free agent OLmen. I'm getting horny just thinking about it. Someone pinch me!

    Same as the other thread Dags. If you replace that many guys at once you may have more of an 8-10 game nightmare than a dream. This ain't Madden 11 brother. All these guys have to get to know one another as players not as zeros and ones, LOL.

    We have to make a concerted effort to completely change the look of our offensive line within the next two to three years. With the veterans that would be on my proposed line, they would be able to gel quickly, and if Pouncey is as good as he is advertised as being, then I do not see what the problem is.

    Here is a revised line, one that might be more realistic:

    LT: Williams, Omiyale
    LG: Joseph/Blaylock/Nicks (F/A)
    G: Pouncey (Draft), Kruetz
    RG: Garza
    RT: Clabo, Webb

    Or another, taking into consideration that we might not draft Mike Pouncey:

    LT: Costanzo/Carimi/Sherrod (Draft), Williams, Omiyale
    LG: Joseph/Blaylock/Nicks (F/A), Williams, Omiyale
    C: Kruetz, Garza
    RG: Garza
    RT: Clabo (F/A), Webb

    I still think that we will purchase three free agents, of which two will spent on the offensive line, while the other will probably be dedicated to WR. The latter of the two seems to be the most realistic for some reason.

    You can rebuild the Oline in two to three years but not one. That's all I'm saying. We did exactly that in the early 80's when we drafted the guys who became the SB winning Oline. If Payton had been playing behind that bunch for more than just a few years his rushing totals might have been much higher.

    It can and will be done but not all of it is gonna happen this year. We upgrade two spots, evaluate, then upgrade what's left. FA will bring some help at OG and maybe RT but we're gonna need to draft and develop our LT's and Center's. Good one's don't hit FA.
