I sure an not! , nor have i seen ANYONE say they are motown..I never understand why because some posters "think" the team will be better in 2011 somehow equals we are 'overjoyed" by the 30th ranked o.. thay doesn't make any sense to me and seems a weak attempt I guess at an insult.

This oline is two years away from being rebuilt and that is IF they take proper steps. Martz system? More like Tice system at this point cause of our talent if you ask me
MUCH different saying a team wll improve with sugar shane, henry burris, rex grossman, johnathan quinn, kyle orton brian griese under center the following year and expecting improvement from jay cutler the following year.. and do think forte is a star and top RB , esp when look a the whole package of running PLUS receiving.. and obviously improved line play will only maks his result even better

I've been seeing and taking note of this trend for the last few years. It was always just a few teams mostly AFC franchises like the Chargers and Dolphins in the 70's and 80's who relied heavily on the pass but now it is quite prevalent throughout the league as the stats show. I was kinda happy with the Martz signing as I thought it may bring the Bears into the modern age and finally get away from the old tradition of run the ball and let the defense do the rest. It's an offensive oriented league now all you have to do is look at all the rule changes being made against aggressive defensive play. You will never see a defense the likes of the Bears of the 80's not because of lack of personnel but because of the many changes to the rules. I personally would love to see a high powered offensive juggernaut come out of Chicago for a change and would settle for a top 20 defense instead of a top 5 defense and a mediocre offense like we've had for oh so many years now.

Cutler, Knox, Hester, Olsen, Forte. It is what it is.

while agree the rules shaped towards "O" and having a high 50's low 40's pass/run ratio the league average, DO NOT agree about having a mediocore "D".. we can have the top "D" and a good "O"... beucase chicago is outside and very windy and cold in winter, that will always play into the "O" numbers, and skew them down over the nice weather and dome teams.
And even the last few years, the "D" is what wins in the playoff's and the high powered O's not as likely. think a top "D" and a top 10 "O" is the best combo.. esp come playoff time...

bad weather hasnt skewed the Packers offense now has it? We have horse shit management when it comes to offense.

Packers do not get the winds of chicago, so while have cold do not get the swirling winds that really grind down a passing game late in year, so do think a difference between the 2 cities and FWIW the packer's "O" despite the overhypeness of it has been ranked
9th- 2010
9th -2009
8th-2008
under rodgers, which is good but not a top 5 "O"

and bored this am so looked at the Stats this AM of how the top 10 "O"S and top 10 "D"'s ( based on nfl.com yards), did going deep in the playoff's and was suprised by the results, showing a top "D" is still more important than a top "O" for the playoffs:
2010 final 4 - 4/4 "D" teams, and 1/4 of the top "O" teams
#5 packers,#2 steelers,#9 bears and #3 jets on "D"
#9 packers,#11 jets,#14 steeers and #30 bears on "O"
2009- 2/4 on "D" and 3/4 on "O"
#1 jets,#6 vikes, #18 colts and #25 saints on "D"
#1 saints,#5 vikes,#9 colts and #23 jets on "O"
2008- 3/4 on "D" and 2/4 on "O"
#1steelers,#2 ravens,#3 eagles and #19 cards on "D"
#4 cards,#9 eagles,#18 ravens and #22 steelers on "O"
2007- 2/4 on "D" and 2/4 on "O"
#7 giants, #4 Pats,#11 packers,#14 chargers on "D"
#1 Pats,#2 packers,#16 giants and #20 chargers on "O"
2006- 2/4 on "D" and 2/4 on "O"
#5 bears,#6 pats, #11 saints and #21 indy on "D"
#1 Saints, #3 indy, #11 pats and #15 bears on "O"
[b]So a bigger percentage of the the top 10 "D"'s made the final 4 in the playoff's than O's and more interesting only the 2009 saints(25th D") made it as a bottom "D", but the 2008 steelers(#22), 2009 jets(#23) and 2010 bears(#30) ALL made it s bottom O's to the final 4 with 2 SB wins. For maybe the perception of the "D" not matering anymore still not true and a top "D" despite the perception is needed more than a top O" for winning in the playoffs( which is what really matters)

I don't consider a top 20 defense mediocre but to each his own. I also don't buy into the whole Chicago's too cold and windy to have a highly potent passing attack late in the season. The rebuilding of Soldier stadium has greatly diminished the swirling winds down on the field from what they used to be. You can't tell me that the weather is any less an obstacle for teams such as the Bills, Jets, Giants, Steelers, Patriots and the Packers. I think a top 5 offense with a decent defense would be a hell of a lot of fun to watch. I just have to go back to the beginning of the '06 season to make my point. When we scored all those points and the game was pretty much over by halftime was awesome and I would like to see more of that then the nail biting 10-7 squeakers we more commonly see with the Bears. I believe the last teams to win a superbowl with defense were the 2000 Ravens and the 2002 Bucs outside of that it's been offenses that have brought the trophy home.

OK but add to that list Bennett a bigger WR like Floyd from FA and two new starters on the Oline at OT and OG and what do you have?
That's only three additions to the starting lineup and should be easily accomplished through the draft and FA. We've already got some very good players at skill postions. All we need to do is rebuild 40% of the Oline and get Cutler the bigger target he prefers and we can improve this offense by at least 50% (from 30th to 15th). As long as we maintain a strong defense we're gonna be in the hunt.
I don't just see that as a possiblity I see it as a probability.
