Changing "O" in NFL 58% passing
Just thought it was very interesting that the league avg. is now a 58%-42%, pass-run league now... the 50/50 around league just doesn't happen anymore and We should adjust to what the averages are before getting too upset with run/pass ratio's

As mentioned in this space over the past year, I'm not a big fan of the deferred kickoff at the beginning of the game.
ESPN Stats & Information just released a trend review of offenses, and it backs up what I always believed. The NFL continues to evolve through the pass. Since 2008, designed pass plays have risen from 57.2 percent of plays to 58 in 2009 to 59 in 2010. Designed running plays dropped from 42.8 to 42 to 41.

good thing we have invested so much into our passing game with no oline and no wrs lmfao we are always behind the times. All the rules support an offense and we do nothing to get it going. We are consistently at the bottom end of the league every season offensively

getting the franchise Qb to have a successful passing game comes first, which we have done( and cost dearly to do)- we have gotten hester, knox and bennett at WR, now just need the big #1 WR.. so have made strides, disagree we have done "nothing".. could we maybe have done more? sure!.. but not like the cupboard is bare, and IMO the o-line part is getting answered this year.

Agreed, we did get our franchise QB but we paid through the nose for it and that as much as anything is why we're still behind the 8 ball as far as an Oline to protect him. Over the past two years we've given up two firsts a second a third to acquire Cutler and Gaines Adams (RIP) and that's left the cupboard bare as far as upgrading the Oline goes.
It's pretty fortunate that we were able to hire and keep Tice. Given the success he had turning aournd the line play by seasons end I feel very good about what more can be done with two good draft choices and one or two more guys from FA. We've got Cutler and we're just one bigger WR short of what we need at the skill positions so once we solve the Oline issue we should be good to go.
I'd love to see us become an offense that causes defenses as much trouble through the air as we do on the ground. As long as teams can bottle up Forte and force us into passing too much we will continue to struggle against the better defensive teams around the league. We need to get dangerous through the air and we need to do it now.
We're one good OT (draft) and one good OG (FA) away from having a good Oline. If we can get those two in place and also get Kruetz's heir on board this offseason I'll consider it a huge success.

Not overjoyed mo just believing that we aren't as bad off as it seems. Two new Olinman, a WR in FA, and another year of Cutler digesting Martz system and I'll bet that #30 ranking improves dramatically. There are some very good offensive players on the team. We just need to fix the most glaring weaknesses.

we have been saying that since forever it is always the same dance one more this two more that blah blah. This offense wont be crap until they get some stars and not just a bunch of role players. The only number one WR in FA is Holmes and we most likely arent paying that heavy of a contract. You say two olineman away? This oline is two years away from being rebuilt and that is IF they take proper steps. Martz system? More like Tice system at this point cause of our talent if you ask me

I'd like to know what that percentage is for the teams consistantly in the play offs. I don't want my team following a trend made up of 50% of the losers in the NFL.
Still need a qb that knows when to throw it away vs to the other team; and some wr's that can help him out of a jam....OL is beyond obvious...scrap 75% of it and start over; mo's right it's a two year project.

Mo, despite all of what you say the Bears were still the second or third best team in the NFL last year. Personally I don't think it will take more than I described to stay there or even win the Super Bowl. We weren't that far away that an injury to Cutler and a few less coaching blunders may have gotten us there.
