The engineer that had the cubicle next to me at my last engineering job had a dog problem also. Instead of asking the neighbors politely to keep their dog off of his lawn, he started picking up all of the dog poop and throwing it on their roof.

If my children were students at that school I'd expect the school administrators to keep strangers off of school grounds too. That's too dangerous a matter to ignore these days.
But in this case if Olsen was known to both the students and the staff as a non-threatening individual it does seem that this whole thing was blown out of proportion. Frankly it's not even something that would ordinarily make the news if not for the lockout.

Our school requires background checks for anyone involved at the school. They also don't allow anyone other than school authorized sporting events to use the sports fields due to liability issues. There's a lot more to it than just being jerks even if they know him.

Oh I don't see the school as being jerks at all and liability is certainly an issue. I just think it's a matter that wouldn't even see the light of day if it were you or me using their facilities instead of Olsen. The press has nothing to write about as they usually have at this time of the year so we get this bullshit instead.
Like LeGere's article on Michael Vick. Just a completely worthless hatchet job IMO.

True, the school didn't treat him any differently than they would have you or me.

It's good PR for the school though and great for the kids to see a guy wanting to try to find any way he can to practice and get the work in. Surprised the school doesn't embrace him.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

They might, after he goes through the proper channels. IDK, it's still a liability though.

I don't know about that considering if he signs a waiver.

I've been told that waivers don't cover "neglect" which would cost a fortune in court costs even if it wasn't the schools fault.
Although I can see them allowing him to work out there if he did sign a waiver and had a background check, etc. It would only take a day to get it done, then instant publicity. Hell, even have him do workouts with the track team, etc.
