Although I can see them allowing him to work out there if he did sign a waiver and had a background check, etc. It would only take a day to get it done, then instant publicity. Hell, even have him do workouts with the track team, etc.
Yeah the track think would be fun to see. I believe they can write a contingency clause, I don't see him trying to come back on the school if he got injured that would be career suicide esp. after he sought them out on his own accord.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

School did the right thing, having a guy show up unannounced on school property is a big no-no.
Granted, Olsen graduate from Miami, so brains isnt what got him through college. What he shouldve done was simply called a school he was interested in working out at, talk to their principal or administrator, and set something up from there. Yeah, i get that his calls AFTER he was kicked didnt get returned, thats why he shouldve set it up BEFORE simply showing up. Im sure there are plenty of schools that wouldnt mind an NFL player stopping by, do his workouts, talk to the kids afterwards.

"Hi, this is Greg Olsen from the Chicago Bears. I'd like to work out on your football field during the lockout. Would that be ok?"
How could they say no? It's too bad he didn't go through the proper channels to do so. I'd say this will get cleared up and he will be working out there before too long. Unless another school in the area contacts him first.

Lol, and that is as simple as it couldve been...thats all he had to do. But yeah, im sure he learned his lesson, and i wouldnt be surprised if he manages to work something out with that school, or another one.

Can you imagine a big name NFL guy working out at your local school? I assume you don't have kids, but I do, and that would be awesome to go work out with him, or even watch him workout with the highschool kids.

not HS age, no. But nvm...i know what youre saying. Even when i was in HS, i wouldve been stoked to have an NFL player, especially a Bear stop by. I still remember meeting Kurt Becker once, and that was even well after his playing days as a Bear (alumni from my HS)...and thats was pretty cool to all of us.

And "if" the lockout continues- Can see a more organized group of players talking to a local high school or college about using their field( in addition to whatever gym they do the workout's in) for their practices and in return maybe doing lecture at the school or a fund raiser to help the school in return.. a win/win for both sides.

Dang, that would be an awesome idea. "Come play with the Chicago Bears," $20 a head, plus raffle tickets and stuff. Im sure they would have to limit activities for the safety of everyone, maybe have Cutler and Hanie toss balls to guys running, have a kicking contest with Gould, stuff like that. that would be pretty awesome.

exactly - even to be the "ball boys" be a raffle to raise money.. be good publicity for the players, good for the local schools and the kid's would really like it

haha. Yeah, my oldest is in 7th grade, but it would be awesome to take him to meet an NFL player, and watch him workout with the HS track team, or the Football players on the field.
Dave Duerson had football camps here when I was a kid, and it was awesome to hang out with all of the NFL players.
