Bears to meet with cornerback prospect Bryan

The Chicago Bears will conduct an interview with Baylor cornerback Antareis Bryan on Thursday in Dallas, according to his agent Albert Elias.

Bryan has had workouts with the Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers and Houston Texans. At 6-1, 195 pounds, he’s an intriguing prospect because he runs to well, timed in the low 4.4’s in the 40-yard dash. Size-wise, he would compare to someone like Charles Tillman and the Bears like to have bigger cornerbacks in their scheme for run support.

Bryan has been plagued by injuries the last two seasons. A hamstring injury cost him about half of his senior season and he suffered a broken ankle as a junior. He could be a late-round selection or a free agent, but undrafted free agents cannot sign until after the NFL lockout ends.

That sounds intriguing. But if we do that, do we still go after another CB in the third round or do we look to draft a OG like Stefan Wisniewski?

That's another point of this lockout, had not really thought up.. usually right after the draft, teams line up 4-10 guys that are UDFA's(teams will speak to their agents and tell them either drafting late or will offer them in UDFA a deal), and sign them for rook camp and to see what they have..this year all those players(100-200+) are going to be in complete limbo, with teams not allowed to tak with agents and hav these guys "lined up" right after draft.. really going to SUCK for these guys to ahve no idea if 1 , 10 or no teams has an interest.. just another "victim group" of the lockout no one seems to care about

The reason I asked was because we may/may not want to consider taking a wide receiver in the third round if we took that Bryan late in the draft.

SIU cornerback Lindsey draws interest from Bears

Southern Illinois cornerback Korey Lindsey has made the rounds in advance of next week’s NFL draft and one of his stops was with the Chicago Bears.

Lindsey made a pre-draft visit to the Bears earlier this month, one of nine teams he visited.

Lindsey pulled a hamstring running the 40-yard dash at Northwestern last month and had the same injury at his own school’s pro day, which Bears assistant defensive backs coach Gill Byrd attended.

The 5-10, 194-pounder is only the third Saluki to be named first-team All-American in consecutive seasons. He had six interceptions as a junior and regularly covered the opponent’s top wide receiver.

Some question his ability in run support and there is a wide range of speculation where he will be drafted. Some have suggested Lindsey could have a third-round grade while others forecast he could last into the final rounds.

The last time the Bears drafted a player from Southern Illinois was 1972 when they selected offensive tackle Lionel Antoine.

Every so often we do get good offensive tackles. You can add him to the list next to Lick, Covert, and Van Horne. Injury shortened career though if I remember right.

I'd add in "big cat" williams- though he was drafted as as a DT... but became a RT fixture

UPDATED: Unofficial list of pre-draft visits, private workouts

By Brad Biggson April 3, 2009 10:21 AM

Here is our unofficial list of pre-draft visits for the Bears and private workouts.

We have independently confirmed the information for all but but two of these, and the vast majority were reported first right here. The Bears do not announce who they are bringing to Halas Hall or where they are sending their scouts and coaches prior to the draft. Some of the moves turn into nothing. Some mean a lot. Lovie Smith traveled to Vanderbilt and Arkansas last year. The Bears drafted four players from those schools, including first-round pick Chris Williams and third-round picks Earl Bennett and Marcus Harrison. The club made visits to see running back Matt Forte. Many of the late-round picks and free-agent signings after the draft last year made pre-draft visits to Halas Hall.
We'll try to keep this information organized and updated as we move forward. We'll do our best to make the list as complete as possible.

    Pre-draft visits
    Al Afalava, Safety, Oregon State
ADDED APRIL 4 Aaron Brown, Running back, TCU
    Jason Chery, Wide receiver, Louisiana-Lafayette
ADDED APRIL 13 Dennis Conley, Guard, Hampton
Maurice Crum Jr., Linebacker, Notre Dame
ADDED APRIL 25 Colin Dow, Center/guard, Montana
ADDED APRIL 14 Julian Edelman, QB/Wide receiver, Kent State
    Derek Kinder, Wide receiver, Pitt
T.J. Lang, Offensive lineman, Eastern Michigan
ADDED APRIL 4 Ellis Lankster, Cornerback, West Virginia
    Henry Melton, Defensive end, Texas
    Michael Mitchell, Safety, Ohio
    Brandon Myers, Tight end, Iowa
    Rich Ohrnberger, Guard, Penn State
ADDED APRIL 19 Mike Rivera, Linebacker, Kansas
ADDED APRIL 13 Louis Saucedo, Guard, Montana State
    Anthony Scirrotto, Safety, Penn State
    Jamaal Westerman, Defensive end, Rutgers
ADDED APRIL 24 Pierre Walters, Defensive end, Eastern Illinois
    Nathan Williams, Linebacker, Murray State
    Private workouts
Russell Allen, Linebacker, San Diego State
ADDED APRIL 20 Robert Brewster, Offensive lineman, Ball State
    Eben Britton, Offensive tackle, Arizona
    Kenny Britt, Wide receiver, Rutgers
ADDED APRIL 14 Julian Edelman, QB/Wide receiver, Kent State
    John Gill, Defensive tackle, Northwestern
Darrius Heyward-Bey, Wide receiver, Maryland canceled
ADDED APRIL 4 Juaquin Iglesias, Wide receiver, Oklahoma
    Phil Loadholt, Offensive tackle, Oklahoma
Lance Louis, Guard, San Diego State
    Sherrod Martin, Safety, Troy
    Mohamed Massaquoi, Wide receiver, Georgia
    Michael Mitchell, Safety, Ohio
Hakeem Nicks, Wide receiver, North Carolina
Richard Quinn, Tight end, North Carolina
Mike Wallace, Wide receiver, Ole Miss*

Get together (we're not sure if these will be visits or private workouts)
    Todd Boeckman, Quarterback, Ohio State*
ADDED APRIL 13 Mark Lewis, Guard, Oregon
Brian Robiskie, Wide receiver, Ohio State
