Bears Draft Board
Jerry Angelo said that they would be targetting 4-5 players at each position and these are the players that I target at the spots we may pick.
Tier 1 [Players I would explore moving up for]
1. OT Tyron Smith [USC] 6’5” 310lbs.
Has everything to be a Pro Bowl LT and has the athletic ability to pass protect in the Martz offense.
2. OT Gabe Carimi [Wisconsin] 6'7" 314lbs.
I rank him this high because of how safe of a prospect he is. He may not be able to stay at LT, but he should start at a high level in the NFL.
3. OT Anthony Costanzo [Boston College] 6'7" 313lbs.
He starts from Day 1 at LT and with his size and technique we can set it and forget it.
Tier 2 [Must Picks at 29]
4. OG Mike Pouncey [Florida] 6'5" 303lbs.
Another player that starts at OG for the Bears and again solidifies a position of need. An OG is not worth moving up for.
5. DT Cory Liuget [Illinois] 6'2" 303lbs.
The best 3 technique in the draft and a player that may not hit 29, but if he does we pick him over Solder and Sherrod.
6. OT Nate Solder [Colorado] 6'8" 319lbs.
Raw and athletic with the most upside in the draft. Mike Tice would have to sign off on the move., but look what he did in 12 weeks with Webb.
7. OT Derek Sherrod [Missisippi State] 6'5" 320lbs.
Solid unflashy pass protector that may not be anything more then a good starting LT in the NFL, but that is what the Bears need.
8. DT Muhammad Wilkerson [Temple] 6'4" 315lbs.
A lot like Solder as he has all the physical ability in the world and the film has not caught up, but intense upside to give to Marinlli.
Tier 3 [Would think about at 29, but would be happier with a trade down]
9. OG Marcus Cannon [TCU] 6'5" 350lbs.
So much physical ability that he has Pro Bowl potential at OG, but there are some question marks with his weight.
10. DT Marvin Austin [UNC] 6'2" 309lbs.
Austin has more red flags then a communist party convention, but he has some serious physical ability that can be molded.
11. OG Danny Watkins [Baylor] 6'4" 312lbs.
I hate his age [27], but I love the fact that he is a big dominant farm boy like Logan Mankins.
12. CB Aaron Williams [Texas] 6'1" 200lbs.
I do not want a CB in the 1st or 2nd round, but Williams ability to play CB and FS is intriguing for the Bears secondary.
Tier 4 [Trade Down Targets]
13. OT James Carpenter [Alabama] 6'5" 325lbs.
I think Carpenter is the best 2nd round prospect at LT, but he would be a reach at 29 and like Sherrod just looks solid.
14. DT Stephen Paea [Oregon St] 6'1" 303lbs.
I so not question his strength or his motor, but I do question is pure pass rush ability and the health of his knee.
15. OG Orlando Franklin [Miami] 6'5" 319lbs.
May not have the feet to stay at LT and has some technique weaknesses, but he is big athletic and nasty, which may endear him to Mike Tice.
16. WR Leonard Hankerson [Miami] 6'1" 209lbs.
A big physical WR that is clean off the field and worked hard during his college career to improve.
