Bears Mock Draft [3 Scenarios]

This is my final attempt at mock drafts for the Bears, maybe, and I put these together based on the rumors and supposition that has gone on all offseason and most recently with Jerry Angelo's comments.

Scenario 1

Bears offensive line coach Mike Tice loves Wisconsin OT Gabe Carimi "so much he'd adopt him," according to SI.com's Peter King.

Trade: The Bears trade 1[29], 3[93] and 5th in 2012 to Tampa Bay for 1[20]

1[20] OT Gabe Carimi [Wisconsin] 6'7" 315lbs.

The Bears move aggressively to get the OT that Tice wants. Carimi is a safe pick that can start at LT or RT and should provide the Bears with the flexibility that they want with so may positions unsettled.

Trade: The Bears trade 2[62] to Tennessee for 3[76], 4[108]

3[76] DT Terrell McClain [South Florida] 6'2" 292lbs.

McClain is a solid effort pass rusher with the ability to disrupt the back field. He may not have the athletic ability that Austin and Wilkerson have, but he will fit into the rotation early.

4[109] C Tim Barnes [Missouri] 6'4" 300lbs.

A stout pass blocking center that can backup and develop behind Olin Kreutz before taking over in 2012.

4[127] CB Jalil Brown [Colorado] 6' 205lbs.

A big physical CB that can come up and tackle and has starting potential.

5. WR Austin Pettis [Boise St] 6'3" 209lbs.

A big WR that has solid hands, but may never be more than a #2 or #3 WR.

6. LB Eric Gordon [Michigan St] 6' 230lbs

A developmental LB with speed and tenacity to play special teams early.

Scenario 2

Jerry Angelo just said Bears aren't overly concerned w/the baggage of North Carolina DT Marvin Austin.

Angelo said Lovie Smith, Rod Marinelli & scouts spent a "goodly" amount of time in NC w/North Carolina DT Marvin Austin.

1[29] DT Marvin Austin [UNC] 6'2" 309lbs.

Million dollar body with a lot of baggage, but if the Bears are comfortable with his baggage he may be the perfect 3 technique in this draft. The explosion that he has for a man his size is scary.

2[62] OT Marcus Gilbert [Florida] 6'6" 330lbs.

The Bears have been heavily scouting Florida OLmen and Gilbert can play OG and OT, something that the Bears are looking for.

3[93] CB Shareece Wright [USC] 5'11" 190lbs.

A fundamentally sound CB that plays physical and has starter potential.

4[109] C Tim Barnes [Missouri] 6'4" 300lbs.

Interesting thoughts Windy. I'd prefer that we not pull off the trade you outlined in scenario 1. To me, trading in the first round has a cost that far outweighs the benefits.

I think we stick to our picks this time around. The more I see what people's mocks have available in the 25-35 range I'm satisfied that we can come out of it with a starter at either OT/DT/Interior OL. If that turns out to be DT, then we are likely focused on a OL of some sort in the second round. If the first round turns out to be an OL, I think we look to CB in the second round. JMO.

Scenario 3

Angelo on Bears wanting larger offensive linemen:"We've kind of shifted in that we want bigger people. We are looking for tackles that can play guard, rather than guard that can play center. I know coach [Mike] Tice and coach [Mike] Martz want bigger people. Staffs we had before weren't as committed to that thinking."

One league source tells the Chicago Sun-Times the Bears have done "plenty of research" on Pitt WR Jonathan Baldwin.

Trade: The Bears trade 1[29] to the Tennessee Titans for 2[39], 4[109] and 5[142].

2[39] OG Marcus Cannon [TCU] 6'5" 350lbs.

A massive road grading OLmen that has played OT and OG in college and combines incredible athletic ability with his size and strength. Weight will need to be monitored, but Tice loves big OLmen.

2[62] WR Jonathan Baldwn [Pitt] 6'5" 225lbs.

A big, fast [4.45 40] WR that can stretch the field and go up and get the ball something that Cutler has had success with. Baldwin brings some off field baggage with him that ill have to be researched.

Martz gets his developmental QB that he can work with and it was rumored that he was at the Idaho Pro Day.

6. S Mistral Reymond [South Florida] 6'1" 195lbs.

The Bears continue to add depth and youth to a defense that will see transition over the next couple of seasons.

I agree that I love Carimi, but I do not think that his talent is worth a trade up.

I thought that it would be interesting to visualize what all these rumors and scenarios look like.

That is my final draft board.

I simply went off the trade value chart and it is similar to the Jarron Gilbert trade. Just spit balling some ideas.

Maybe I just like Jalil more than you, but I am having trouble seeing him make it to our third pick, let alone our fourth. Also, I know I've said it before, but there frankly isn't a guy within reasonable reaching distance that I even consider giving up that much for.

I like Jalil Brown as well and expect him to be a 3rd round pick because of his size.

I simply used what I saw as the consensus grades that players were given.

The more I look at option 1 the more I am not a huge fan simply because I do not see Carimi as a game changing talent. Solid plug and player Yes, but true difference maker maybe not.

I do not mind 3 for 2 reasons.

1. There is a real chance at 29 that we will be picking a player with a 2nd round grade because this draft is solid, but not spectacular.

2. It would allows us to recoup some of the picks that we lost over the last couple of seasons and add youth throughout the team.
