I would just as soon have Mike Tice as the offensive coordinator. He's going to advocate more of a ball control offense anyway than Martz will/would when he starts calling plays again.

And it would have been worse if Lovie and Co' hadn't neutered him mid way through the season to make him balance the attack better. Guy shouldn't be in extension talks to begin with...it should be why the F should we give you another year to try and kill Cutler?
I'm going to go on record and say that I would prefer that we didn't have Mike Martz as our offensive coordinator. In the subsequent games after the bye week, we lost three games. One of those games, vs. the Patriots, would have happened no matter what we would have done. However, in the losses to the Packers, we reverted back to our "pass first, damn the torpedoes" mentality that nearly got Jay Cutler killed in the first half of the season. Mike Tice probably did have some say in the play calling during the last half of the season, and I would imagine that he is a ball-control type of coach who fits the mold of a Chicago-type of offensive mind very well. I say drop Martz like he's a hot potato and bring aboard Mike Tice. At least he knows the strengths of the offensive line.

think we need to have a 2nd year with martz before deciding either way on how good/bad he is.. though do like have tice here Also both as an alternative and as yo said a 'sounding board" and different view's to at times reign in "the mad scientist martz".. you may be right about a more ball control "O", but will also say, with the Passing game becoming more prevelant in the NFL, think we need to see with a better line and ayear under belt with system, what can happen in 2011 first

Wasn't Tice the mastermind behind the "Randy Ratio"?

You could well be right mo. Tice wants to build a bigger line which says great run blocker to me. I think that's the reason he's reportedly all gaga over Carimi. A real strong ground game to compliment Cutler's ability to reach deep for the quick score is right up Lovie alley IMO.
As on OC I think Tice would lean more in that direction than Martz. It's been written that Tice was given more say in the offensive playcalling after the bye week when Lovie insisted on more balance and fewer passes off 7 step drops. Like I said, we'd miss Toub more than we would Martz. If Martz improves us to a top 15 offense this year we can talk about raise.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Absolutely. Martz has done nothing to warrant a raise. We actually took a step back. As far as I'm concerned, he's in the doghouse with Lovie and JA in terms of production. Until the offense improves and improves dramatically, he should get no raise. Period.
