Isn't it better to be lucky than good? in this case, the trade fell through cause we weren't smart enough to confirm the trade, so we're lucky we got the guy we needed. We weren't good in predicting who wanted what ahead of us. BTW, FU Baltimore, hahahaha

Both players got what they wanted, but right now Baltimore is acting like an angry kid in a store who's mom promised a candy bar but forgot to put it in the cart.

no both teamd didn't get what they wanted, Ravens wanted a 4th round pick and the 29th for their pick. Angelo screwed it up; they won't get the pick, but JA looks like a jackass...bigger jackass

Thankfully it worked out but Balt has good reason to be upset. It wasn't that the Bears backed out, they fell asleap and KC could have could have really screwed things up.
That said, I don't see that they are due any compensation, but how will this affect the Bears abilty to work trades with teams going on?

both teams got the players they wanted Ric, it has already been stated. The Ravens might get their 4th round draft pick anyway, I read earlier that the Bears might trade their 4th to move up to the Ravens' spot in the 2nd.

That being said, it was not official according to league rules, and even though Angelo admitted that there was a screw up, Bears should keep the pick
I'll grant them their reason to be pissed off but I think it's more smoke than fire. It was a verbal deal and unconfirmed as far as the league is concerned. Because of the numerous possibilities for this to happen in any draft I would think the NFL has some hard and fast rules of how to deal with it and if others are correct there is a precedence for this and no compensation was awarded.
Don't know what Balt. is bitchin' about. They weren't damaged as a result and still got their guy so no harm no foul.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

I would be happier w/that scenerio since we didn't actually get their 1st. We might have both got the guys we wanted, but they did not get the pick, yet, so you cannot say both got "what" they wanted.

baltimore didn't get minny's pick, when they screwed up in 2003 and didn't complete their agreed trade on time with minny and minny lost 2 poistions before could get their pick finally in.. why would this be different? same thing happened in 2003.. and sure didn't harm baltimore going forward with making trades with other teams since- did it?
I'm pissed," said Vikings coach Mike Tice. "There is no other way I can put it."
The background: While on the clock Saturday, the Vikings were discussing trades with three teams -- Baltimore, Jacksonville and New England -- all at the same time. Minnesota officials finally settled on the Ravens proposal, a deal that would have permitted Baltimore to jump up three spots and select the much-coveted Leftwich.
In return for moving down to the Ravens' spot at No. 10, the Vikings would have gained additional choices in the fourth and sixth rounds.
The Vikings insist they turned in their card to NFL officials, indicating the trade, with about 32 seconds remaining on their time limit. But the league apparently did not have verification from Baltimore on its side of the deal.
The Ravens, while acknowledging the trade was agreed upon..One Ravens official did insist, not for attribution, that team officials attempted to call in the trade but that NFL officials did not answer the telephone. League officials denied that contention. tice payback?..lol( maybe tice tackled the 'runner" that was supposed to give the card in..j/k.. but do we know where tice was?..: ) LOL
