WR FA suggestions.....
But the biggest hole remains a big receiver — and there’s no shortage of them looking for jobs.
Braylon Edwards, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Randy Moss and Terrell Owens all would add size. But would those players — all strong personalities — fit in the Bears’ locker room?
The Bears also could kick some tires of undrafted rookies such as Andre Holmes of Hillsdale College.
Sidney Rice and Vincent Jackson would be excellent fits, too, but they’re both expected to be restricted and/or franchised.
One intriguing player is Mike Sims-Walker, a former third-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars, who did not give him a one-year tender earlier in the offseason. He is 6-2, reportedly shed some weight to get closer to 200 pounds, and has scored seven touchdowns in each of the last two seasons. In 2009, Sims-Walker caught 63 passes for 869 yards.
Another possibility is Plaxico Burress. One of the keys to the New York Giants’ Super Bowl XLII victory, the 6-5 Burress may be hungry to play when he’s released next month after serving a two-year prison sentence for weapons charges. Burress, 33, is represented by agent Drew Rosenhaus, with whom Angelo has done many deals.

No clue about Sims Walker, but I can't say if the two expected by this columnist to be franchised are off the board, that there's an intriguing play maker there...

We don't need a big #1 WR, we already have this Canadian guy. Andy Fancy/Fants.... Don't remember his name. He's a great receiver and has a lot of potential. I mean, CFL rocks, don't you think?

No, we can still get a mid to late 30s prima dona that's lost a step.

If he can still walk, let's give him a tryout...

I don't know that we need size in Martz's offense. We do need someone who can get off the line when corners are bumping. Martz's system is all based on timing and the WR being a spot when he should be. I can't tell you how many times I saw Knox getting pushed around by corners and as a result not get to his spot in time. That puts a lot of pressure on 6 to pull a rabbit out of his ass and lord knows our O line didn't give him much time to do so.

Mike Sims-Walker would be a nice option,
-He is 6'2"
-He has scored 7 TDs a season the last couple of seasons.
-He will come reasonably cheap.

Was there some reason that Malcom Floyd was left off the bigger WR list and over the hill problem children like T.O. and Randy Moss weren't? T.J. is not that much bigger than Bennett and 33 years old (lets get a new Moose) and Braylon Edwards isn't exactly the most sure handed WR in the NFL. He makes one astounding grab than drops the next when it's right in his hands but he is younger than the others.
To me Floyd is the best big WR we could target. He may not be a true #1 guy but we need that less than we need a taller target for Cutler to thrown to and at 6'5" he's it. He's past his learning stage and a guy we can get 3-4 good years out of while we locate and wait for a someone else to be found and developed. I'd have Martz waiting on his doorstep early in the moring of the day FA opens.
Sims-Walker could be a reasonable second choice but once again he doesn't give you the height and reach that Floyd would. IMO Jay needs a Brandon Marshall size guy and Floyd is the one who best fits that description.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.
