We have way more important fish to fry in FA than looking for a 2011 Todd Collins.

A buddy at work today told me (and I haven't checked this out yet to see if it's true or not) that some yahoo-pundit on YahooSports graded the Bears' draft as an "F". That's utterly ridiculous. We got 2 starting-caliber, impact-caliber players at 2 critical positions of need and Conte & Thomas look like they both can be solid ST-contributors and potential future D-contributors as well. Considering we were picking at the bottom of every round and had no supplemental, 7th round, or "extra" picks, the Bears did pretty darn well. Kiper is panning it a bit too--should be a "B+" overall grade.

What other team did better with a comparable set of picks/locations?

LMAO, it was only Jason Cole and here's his grading. He's more pissed off about the failed trade with the Ravens than anything else. Most of this evaluation is about that and only in the last two sentences does he even get to mentioning the players. When he finally does he dings the Carimi pick by saying that he doesn't fit the Bears needs, ROTFLMFAO!!!!! What total f'n tool.

Carimi was the most perfect fit for the Bears out of all the OT's in this draft. He was Tice's dream choice and Jason Cole wants us to believe he knows more about the Bears Oline needs than Mike Tice. Then he gives a left hand compliment to the Paea pick and discounts the Conte pick as a reach when the 3rd round is exactly where the majority had him going.

I love his comments about JA being unmanly and insisting that the Bears should have sent the 4th as an apology, LOL. Jason this isn't Jolly Old England so gentlemanly conduct means nothing on draft day. It's dog eat dog and they all play by the same rules. The NFL isn't the All Britain Cricket League either so giving something up "just because" isn't the way we do it here.

Somebody write a complaint and get this stooge fired.

    Picks: OT Gabe Carimi(notes), DT Stephen Paea(notes), S Chris Conte(notes), QB Nathan Enderle(notes), LB J.T. Thomas(notes).
    Grade: F
Analysis: This is a grade on principle. If you agree to a trade, you should follow through on it. GM Jerry Angelo’s wimpy way of backing out of his deal with Baltimore is just unmanly. This is the same guy who once complained about San Francisco tampering with Lance Briggs(notes). No GM in the league should ever trust Angelo again and to do that to a person as classy as Ozzie Newsome is just ridiculous. The Bears should have sent the pick to the Ravens simply as an apology. Beyond that, Angelo guessed wrong about who Kansas City was going to take and ended up getting Carimi anyway. Here’s even more bad news: Carimi isn’t that good and doesn’t fit what the Bears want to do. Paea in the second round was a solid pick, even if he cost a lot to get, but Conte was a stretch in the third round.

But it was "the principal of the thing". Jeezus, what year of JHS are you in Jason?

I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.
