I can't ever knock taking a shot at ST types for this team. All too often those are the guys who've kept us in games or gotten us back into them. This could be a guy very much like Ayanbadejo was a couple of years back and if he never does anything else but become a ST standout he will have been a good pick.
Jt is already more of a LB than Ayan, who was strictly a ST beats, but a bad LB.. this guy has the right instincts and reads the d's much better than Ayan ever did- the only question is the size issue, which don't think i as big an issue as some make it out..

Well his preseason college poop had him at 6'2" and 225lbs but his combine numbers say he's 6'1 and 240lbs which makes him roughly Lance Briggs height and weight. Plenty big for a WLB in the Bears system and if they decide to play him at SLB he might even drop 10lbs and do just as well.
His read and react skills were what I noticed most in that video. When you couple that with this athleticism you have to wonder how this guy lasted until the 6th. If he can come in and play to that level in the pros he's gonna be one hell of a player.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Actually its because briggs was considered too small , that bears were able to get him in 3rd round and not first, in 2003.. bet alot of teams regret apssing him 2 or 3 times in that draft
that was the knock on him, too small.. personally esp at Lb never get that- the NFL is rife with supposed "undersized" Lb's being all pro and Hall of fame.. but STILL knock draft picks down because of it

Yeah, Sam Mills, London Fletcher, Derrick Brooks, all useless undersized guy who'll never make it in the NFL, LOL. It would be nice to have a whole LB core of 6'4" 260lb physical freaks like Urlacher but sometimes you just have to settle for the average, haha. Gimme average Joe's like Briggsy any day.

yep zach thomas ,lawrence timmons jerod mayo, patrick willis to add some more- and there are the physical "beasts' like levar arringington, hawk, aaron curry that people fall in love with their size, but they fail in the NFL or not live up to the hype, Lb imo, alot more about mental ability to see the play and recognize the proper read and solid tackling then the huge size

Okwo was a twirp compared to this guy. I think he will succeed on special teams. And with his size and athleticism if he does make it at LB we got a steal. But I can live with a 5th rounder being strictly special teams.

The nice thing is we got him exactly where we were supposed to get him...in the sixth round.
Now all I have to do is justify the third and fifth picks and I'm a happy camper.

or leon joe
.. a great workout warrior ripped to shreds that couldn't ball on sundays. And think he will get some time at SLB in camp, esp if we do not resign Pisa to back up roach

"The Leaning Tower of Pisa"? lol. He shouldn't be resigned simply because he can't stay healthy. I think Thomas is a perfect fit for this team and will do nicely in a Bears uniform.
I can't say that I remember Leon Joe that much. He must've been a footnote in history not worthy of being remembered.
