Stats for Jennings: http://www.chicagobears.com/team/pla...?player_id=256
Bowman had six picks in 2009 none in 2010. Jennings had one pick on 2010.

okay, idky i thought jennings had 5-6. With the number of interceptions bowman had, how was he so bad as to not play? Was it just dumb luck that he got those picks? I honestly can't remember..

A Few of them were.
First one against Atlanta you'd have thought Ryan was throwing the ball right to him.
Second one came against the Cardinals after they were up by enough that they put Lienart in. Good play on the ball by Zach though.
Third one against the 49ers was a great play, he had Crabtree covered beautifully.
Fourth on against the Eagles, hard to say what happened there. It almost looked like Desean Jackson was covering him.
Fifth, Baltimore had already won the game and put in Troy Smith. Need I say more?
Sixth, Dante Cullpepper.
Chris Spencer is the devil.

Bowman's got mad ass ball skills but his coverage is inconsistent. The Bears play a zone defense and there are times I think he wishes it were man to man because he gets left out of position a lot in the zone. He seems lost at times as to where he's to cover but let him link up with a guy and run with him and that seems to be more his game. Or at least that's what I got out of watching him.

Thats actually pretty accurate. One other problem is when he does get caught out of position he's not the best tackler. If I recall correctly that's what got him benched in the first Packers game.

Bowman is young, and it takes young players some time to find their sea legs. This is exactly why we don't need Asomugha as our CB. He plays a straight-up man-to-man defense, and he would have to totally revamp his game to play our style of defense. Bowman has time to learn the defense, and I think he will. The problem is that he will have to get his first three chances at doing so against the Falcons, the Saints, and the Packers. He surely won't have much margin for error in that regard.
The sooner we can get these young players into mini camps to practice, the better off everyone will be. I think Bowman could well be the CB of the future for the Bears IF he is willing to buy into Lovie's system.

I'm really hoping Hoke can develop either Josh Moore or Bowman. Asomugha would be a nice luxury for Rod to play with but I doubt they go after him. I'm not sure if Jennings has reached his ceiling yet but he's close imo.

Is it true that he jumped off against the Packers in the NFC Championship Game?
