This "Cutler needs to polish his PR skills" crap is just stuff reporters love to bitch about. They want players to slobber all over them, beg for the camera, and grovel over the "right" to be interviewed. Cutler clearly is not a "media" QB (which they HATE). He isn't an attention-hog and shuns the press limelight. I give him a lot of credit for biting his tongue and flying under the radar in the aftermath of all the unfair, armchair criticism about his "lack of toughness".
His teammates backed him up 100% and that should be enough said for anyone. The guy took more punishment last year than any other QB in the NFL and NEVER ONCE complained or scapegoated his OL which let him down so many times.

Oh well. At the end of the day, he rides home a winner with a hot chick. I'd like to see what most of these naysayers go home to at night.
Cutler is a talent and a leader. He directs the offense in the most obvious way possible, and that's when he takes charge on the field and leads them to wins. Ditka just joined Gale Sayers as another former Bear who has an agenda in criticizing some aspect of the Chicago Bears. ESPN and the NFL Network have done it too. Ditka works for ESPN, and thus he's working hard to earn that paycheck.

This is what keeps pissing me off. Jay Cutler isn't anywhere near perfect in all aspects of the game. He will never be the field leader that Peyton Manning is nor will he ever do all those cutesy little commercials Manning did. Jay Cutler is a pretty private person and he's just not a rah, rah, rah, sis boom bah, guy on the field. But that doesn't mean that he's not a good leader or that he doesn't have the respect of his teamates.
Jeezus, he's only the best QB this team has seen in 25 years and people just need to settle fvck down and accept him for who he is. Screw Mike Ditka and his opinions. QB's were always over rated to him anyway which is why except for Mac he drove so many away. I'm sick to death of reading all about what Jay Cutler isn't. Why don't we just accept him for what he is. A franchise QB who we can finally build a team around that has the talent to keep us Super Bowl competitive every year.
Or should we just go back to the days of yore with guys like Orton, Grossman, Hutchinson, and Jonathan "the statue" Quinn and the like. I don't remember any of them having great body language either except for Orton whose body seemed to wrap itself around a bottle of Jack Daniels pretty well.
Cutler spends his offseason doing charity work in Africa, donates time and money to hospitalized children and wants no publicity or credit for it, and takes this team to the door step of the Super Bowl but Ditka wants to criticize his f'n body language?????? You should have been so lucky as to have Jay Cutler as your QB "Coach". We might have won more than just one SB during your tenure if we had him.
Damn, I'm tired of these Jay Cutler "isn't" or Jay Culter "needs to be more" threads and posts. I think I'll just blow the next one I read all to hell and have done with them.

I so agree, Soul, and am a big Cutler booster to all the naysayers I encounter. Yeah, he does need to get rid of the ball a little quicker at times and he does need to stop throwing those wounded ducks off his back foot, but he is also the only real "franchise QB" we have had in decades. I really doubt that guys like Rodgers, Sanchez, or Rapistberger would be as heralded as they are without the better tools--OL & WRs--they have had at their disposal. I so hope that the FO gets him the additional personnel he needs to silence his critics and more importantly to win a couple Super Bowls. He is the BEARS QB (and a very good one at that) for the foreseeable future so let's stop the carping and build an offense around him that is worthy of our defense/STs.
PS: As much as Bears fans worshipped Ditka back in the day, you're right about how disappointing his tenure was in terms of championships. That D should have won 3-4 SBs (starting in about '84) and the main reason we didn't was that McMahon was at best a so-so QB and da'coach/FO undervalued the position for far too long.

I find it funny the hypocrisy of some Bears fans. The same ones who complain that Lovie does not show any "fire" or "passion" are the same ones who defend Cutler for not showing either "fire" or "passion".
Seems to me that if you criticize one for it, you should do so for the other.
For the record, the "fire" and "passion" argument is crap anyway.

Glad you think that way. So the purpose of this post was what? To chastise those of us who think Lovie might get upset at a bad call or broken play every once in a while by calling us hypocrites or just to boost your post count. LOL

Bill Walsh had Ditka's number, and don't forget, the calmer fighter usually wins..

No, the purpose was to point out the hypocrisy. As I stated.
You want Lovie to get upset over a bad call, how about seeing Cutler show emotion on a bad play? One and the same.

Just because I want Lovie to throw a shit fit every so often doesn't mean he will and the same goes for Jay Cutler. I'd like to see him get a little more excited than he does and at times he will but like Lovie he's pretty restrained about it. I guess what I object to as much as anything is Ditka, the QB guru hahaha, having any comment whatsoever regarding Cutler or any other QB.
Maybe if Cutler had him for a coach he'd have told him go f' himself as often as Jimmy Mac did. These comments coming from a guy who drove Tomczak to a shrink and made Jim Harbaugh a legend...........with Indy!!!!!!! I'm sorry I may be a blasphemer but Ditka isn't God despite popular Chicago opinion.
