I'd love to see the whole team show up, or at least those under contract, but let's be honest if you are not being paid for it, why show up? But again, I would say that it was productive if one person show up. At least they are doing something.
Most players ARE doing something( remember olsen getting booted from the high school?).. and 10-14 bear players have been working out at TCBOOST in northbrook and 6 at warehouse gym and boxing in chicago( many others live in other states, ie chris harris worling out in a charlotte gym now)... Do you think a structured workout at TCBOOST( where many agents send their players to get ready for the combine), isn't better than 2-5 players throwing the ball on a high school field for an hour?.. i'm not sure except for the media and fans, the former isn't more beneficial.

it's not like you can line guys up for 7 on 7 or anything like that without coach's over seing things.... I mean you CAN... it just wouldn't be very beneficial, and I think that's what guys are getting it...
it wouldn't be "training" so much as just a pick up game with your teamates... and in that scenario the risk for injury is far greater than any NFL prepardness us fans might think they can get out of it.
Maybe you are right. But there are about a dozen teams players holding these unofficial mini camps. Some of them must think it's beneficial.

Think there may be some "bonding" that is beneficial, but do not think much real football training or learning can or will be accomplished, so not sure if really helps for the 2011 season- esp as all players scared of an injury w/o the NFL medical. so no one is going to push themselves, or risk an injury in these.
think it makes a nice "media story' and some fans happy that 'doing something", but do not see an real benefits towards 2011

I'm sure it helps get the chemistry going, and the Camradere(sp?) I was thinking more from a technique and playbook perspective, there's not much you can get done without the coaches there to make sure your doing the little things correctly, making the reads ect...

True, and particularly with the Bears, considering unlike the Cowboys and Saints, there is no real "vet" of the system that can play coach like Brees or Romo.
My question is, if there is an article posted next week about Cutler and the Bears players getting together like this, will the same people be posting that it's pointless?

well... let me backstep... maybe not Pointless, more like, not as important as most fans would like to believe??? I think a lot of fans think guys can just get together and run plays like they would if the lockout as not in place...
pointless???.... Can't really say that I guess... it does have at least SOME benefit.

And I agree. It's not like they would get the same training as a real mini camp. And at the end of the day it may not mean squat as far as the 2011 season goes.
But if you play for the last ranked offense in the NFL you best make sure Jobu gets his rum, know what I mean?
Cutler has his charity walk tomorrow. Don't be surprised if Bears players start getting together in the next week or so.

Romo was getting hammered for not organizing anything down here in Tx. No suprise that Cutler is getting the same treatment.
