I remember a few years ago, rozensleaze trying to "oversell randy mcMicheal and refusing the Dolphins offer's, but finally mcmicheal himself had to step in and accept it, even though drew didn't want it.. that is what players sometimes need to do- if happy where you are( and jay and olsen good friends), the 'little extra' money you may get elsewhere most times never worht it, or works out
This was my general consensus, too. I think that Martz is going to use Olsen more as a receiver than he has in the past. I think that Olsen has the ability to become one of the truly elite receiving TEs in the league if he is used correctly.

Olsen is a key part of Cutler's offensive weapons and at present the only big target he has. To not extend him would be foolish. Maybe the great thing is that since he's really not yet considered a top ten TE (although I think he will be eventually) he may not command anymore than the Bears are willing to offer. Rosenhaus be damned. After his experience with Briggs I think he has a very good idea of what to expect from negotiations from the Bears. I think they put their best deal or very nearly that on the table to begin with. I don't believe there's much wiggle room after that and Rosenhaus should know it.

Remember, soulman: it's Rosensleaze.
The only real way I see Olsen becoming a top tier receiving TE in the tradition of Jason Witten, Tony Gonzalez, and Antonio Gates is for the Bears to fire Mike Martz as offensive coordinator and promote someone like Mike Tice to the position. Tice would work with him on further advancing his blocking skills, and then he would turn him into Cutler's safety outlet. You know the old saying, "You can't change a leopard's spots?" Well, that's the case with Mike Martz. Sooner or later, Lovie Smith is going to wish to God that he and Jerry Angelo had never hired that wacko to the OC position.

yep, rosenslease will aks for moon, bears will counter with a reasonable deal, drew will threaten, it will fall on deaf ears, and if olse smart he will bypass drew and sign fo the offer or something little higher

I don't like the agent, but he is the best. He get's his client as much money as possible by any means possible.

Disagree VERY strongly he is the "best" benj, that would be tom condon, joe linta and leigh steinberg. If want to say who is "the most self serving, most hyped" then Rosensleaze wins, but not as far as getting the best deals or having the most clients. And Drew , esp the last 5 years has really been going downhill and his "games" not effective anymore. Think the Briggs debable( first the wrong media blitz of "played my last down in chicago, followed by the disasterous owner's meeting where paraded briggs around like a lap dog really turned alot of teams off to him), was his downfall, and randy mcmicheal ingoring drew and signing with dolphins, despite drew still threatenng holdoutsp and can't even think of his last top pick or high profile client can you?? most of his clients at or near the end of their NFL career's now. heck I'd say even Eugene parker and his maxium sports agency has past rosensleaze with getting Suh, dez bryant and tretn williams, and don't like him any more than rosensleaze.. Drew was big 10 years ago, not so much anymore, except for hype not substance

He can ask for whatever he pleases but if he has any memory at all from his past experiences with the Bears he knows that an out of line offer won't get anywhere them. Lance Briggs was a much more important piece of the defense than Olsen is of the offense and they were willing to let him walk rather than to make a bad deal. The Bears wouldn't hesitate to do the same with Olsen too.
I agree under Martz that Olsen will probably not become a top tier pass catcher by the numbers but he can still be very effective despite Martz's disdain for TE's. That plays to our advantage though since Rosenhaus won't be able to use their pay scale as a bargaining tool. Olsen deserves a deal which would put him within the top 15 TE's but not the top ten.

Yep, like I posted to Dags, the Bears will let him walk before they cave in to a ridiculous demand. If they were willing to let Briggsy go they won't hesitate with Olsen. I know the Bears will weigh everything before putting together an offer the best or nearly the best they'd be willing to do. The Bears don't leave a lot of wiggle room in their offers and I think that's good. With them players don't have to feel they're being lowballed to start with. They've always been fair, and sometimes too fair, when offering extensions to their own.

Not so much anymore Benji. He's gotten beaten down more than he's won these past few years. He didn't do Lance Briggs much good before his last extension. After all the hoopla and threats Briggsy signed for an amount very similar to what was originally offered.

Perhaps I should have said used to be the best. No arguing that.
