So yeah, we drafted for depth. What's your point?
What is my point? Oh I don't know, maybe the fact that we have the 30th ranked offense in the league, one of the worst if not the worst OL, our running game was not the greatest yet if we had an average OL, Forte would probably be a probowler. Leading the league in sacks last year and INTS the previous year is probably a good sign that the offense needs more help. Using only one draft pick that will help the offense this year where spending 3 draft picks on our defense which ranked 4th in pts and 9th in yards. Perhaps being ranked 2nd vs the run is another sign that we should have focused on our 30th ranked offense.

Dude, you can't just neglect all other aspects of the team just because the offense needs upgrades. Am I disappointed that we didn't go after someone like a John Moffitt in the draft to play OG for us? Hell yeah, you bet. That would open the door for us to sign Tyson Clabo in free agency and we, thus, would have a completely overhauled OL. At the same time, I read somewhere that Conte might have been the second overall ranked S in the draft. We needed a QB to replace the God awful Todd Collins and for once, I agree with something Mike Fartz said and did, and we filled a need at linebacker in J.T. Thomas. I have learned over the years, 4th, that you want to put your best athletes on defense. The Bears do that, and that's why they've been the second winningest team in the NFC since 1995. I remember that in college football, the great University of Alabama teams of my youth and in recent years have their most talented players playing defense; this was particularly true during the Gene Stallings era, when he Bama to the 1992 National Championship over a loaded Miami Hurricanes offense. I know that college football is not the NFL, but the Bears have proven this very fact to be true. As long as they have a strong defense, they will continue to compete for championships.

The problem is we have been neglecting the offensive line for a few years now and it needs more than one player this year and one 7th round pick from last year that would not be even on the field if it were not for our line being so bad. 3 years ago we draft a guy that has back surgury and he has pretty much turned out of be a bust. Angelo cut two players from the DL and used one of our few draft picks to replace those players. Tommie Harris and Alex Brown yet he has not done much for Jay Cutler. Jay Cutler is future of this team and Angelo needs to build a supporting cast around him.

I'll agree that we need to upgrade our offensive line, but it's going to be impossible to do so all at one time. I hear a lot of speculation about John Moffitt, who was on the same offensive line as was Gabe Carimi at the University of Wisconsin, but he went earlier in the draft than what we would have been able to get him (he was the 75th overall pick while we were like 93rd). We couldn't very well trade up to get him after we traded up to get Paea. Keep your eyes peeled; I think the Bears are going to make a big splash in free agency or with a trade to get any one of a number of gifted OG. At the worst, I think they may sign OT Tyson Clabo and solidify the exterior positioning of the offensive line.

If we don't get anything then Jay takes another beating and next years draft Jerry drafts more players for defense again.

really? you mean like using our last 2 first round draft picks on O-lineman Chris williams and gabe Carimi,, those kind of defensive players?

or do you mean trading our other 2 #1's in 2009 and 2010 for a top Qb, that kind of defensive player?

or do you mean picking up in the 2nd round matt forte, or 3rd rounder earl bennett and jaquin iglessia?

Yep nothing but defensive players, Except all the "O' players ahve taken at top recently, you seem to ignore each and every year

we drafted more "O" players than "D" players the last few years

    2011- we drafted 2 "O" players and 3 D players

    2010- 3 "O" players 3 "D" players( unga supp)

    2009- drafted 5 "O" players, 4 D players

    2008- drafted 7 "O" players, 5 "D" players

What part ofJERRY DRAFTS MORE PLAYERS ON OFFENSE the last few years did you not understand? and just falsely try the myth of drafting more "D" players, despite it not being true?
