I'm pretty sure "old" varies greatly from player to player. You cant just make a blanket statement about age in the NFL.

Or in any other sport. Look at Derek Jeter. He is 36 years old and is in his 16th season, yet his bat speed has slowed dramatically, and he is not driving the ball when he hits it with authority anymore like he did in 2009 when he hit .334. Right now, I think he's hitting like .260. That's actually up from where it was in late April/early May.

NFL players have different aging scales based on position, kinda like dog years. A 30 yo CB is like 18 in RB years.

Yeah think Positions have alot to do with it also, some positions Players can age gracefully, like Qb, and O-lineman and still be effective in mid to late 30's.. Other positions that require speed/quick change of direction, Do not age was well and when "they go" its quick and fast from effective starter to out of league, kick returner's seem to quickest to go from good to gone, rb's when go its over

It's sad to see any player go like that, though. They are on top of the world when they're doing well, but when bottom falls out (look at Shaquille O'Neal in the NBA, he ran completely out of gas), it's very dramatic and just...sad.

Dan's gotta write about something. Peanut has lost a step, but is still very effective.

Maybe, but when you consider that their are two future HOF CB's (Woodson and Bailey) still playing very well at 34 years of age you really can't say that some don't age slower than others. Another HOF'er, Darrell Green, played for 19 years and retired at the age of 42! I expect Peanut can still do the job for another 2-3 years if he stays healthy.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

I am seeing decline because he plays physical and it is starting to catching up with him.

Injuries and dings from that style of play take their toll but basically the guy still does the job well as long as he plays RCB in a zone oriented defense. He may let a few more passes slip by than before but he still creates turnovers and get's his picks. He's always made game changing plays and from what I've seen he still does. That's his true value in this defense but I would admit that his style of play may shorten his career. Still think he's got a couple more good years in him though.
