Tillman takes exception to words as he ignore
Boy, pompei sure bored, now looking to fight with tillman?
but hey if it motivates peanut and makes pomei look like an arse, i'm all for it!
Lighten up, age is just a number
Tillman takes exception to words as he ignores Father Time
Dan Pompei On the NFL June 3, 2011
I have two things to say to Charles Tillman.
"You're welcome."
And, "Thank you."
For the motivation, that is.
You have worked yourself into a full sweat because both in print and in person, I indicated you are getting old. In fact, you told Laurence Holmes on WSCR-AM that you saved an article I wrote for motivation.
"I feel like that was a call out," you said. "I think everyone should get motivated when someone calls them out. That's why we play this game. We're competitive. When someone says I can't do something or I'm too old to do something, it fires me up. I think it's a good thing. Well let me show you how old I am. I like motivation. It fuels you. It gives you something to work for."
Hey, no sweat, just doing my part. I know that without coaches around to poke you and keep you on course during the lockout, you could use a little prodding from outside sources.
Maybe all Bears fans will be thanking me if it makes you a better player.
If you like, I can call you all kinds of names you can use to make you work harder.
Fogey.
Fossil.
Gramps.
Coffin-dodger.
Geezer.
Prune.
Go ahead Prune-nut, I mean, Peanut. Do another rep on the bench press. Run another sprint.
Faster this time.
And don't let the fact I think you still are one heck of a cornerback slow you down.
I understand athletes mentality is to convince themselves they are invincible. I can count on one hand the number of athletes I've known who actually understood they were losing something as they aged. Denial probably is a vital aspect of confidence.

just found it odd to see Pompei put it in print, you always hear players/coaches putting up Bulletin board material,, so n ot sure why he decided to Single out peanut

Yet ....... look at how quickly Vasher went from good to garbage to gone.
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?
A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?

Why did he single him out? Because he IS getting older and starting to falter. How many times last season alone did we read on this very site people saying the same things about him? More than I can count.

Age doth not performance make. Peanut is only 30. Champ Bailey is 34 and he's still kickin' ass and takin' names. I'm not seeing any serious decline in Tillman's play.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Peanut still has at least three years left in the tank. Until then, I wouldn't be dogging his play.

like most players, injuries a large part of that- he got injured and never fullt recoverd his speed and quickness after hos groin and knee injuries, unfor that isn't something anyone can predict.. nor even how certainplayers hve full recoveries after and other players never recover from sme injuries.. one of the big mysteries of Sports and medical in general

Disagree strongy Peanut is Old( when did 30 become old at Cb?) heck chris harris is only a year younger.. i guess woodsen in greebay is retirement home right?, bailey etcetc.. Btw do you realize everone's favorite CB to get Asomugha is the same age as Peanut?.. how can people want a "old" Cb like Aso.. : )

One would figure that if Jerry Rice and Tim Brown could play as wide receivers well into their 30s, a CB, which is just as demanding a position in terms of speed and quickness, could just as easily do the same. Asomugha is arguably one of the top two blanket corners in the NFL, yet he is 30 years old. I would imagine that he has plenty of time left in him before he calls it a day.
