Nice preview and props from cooley, like showing the Culter improving on the footwork and showing the plays for it.

Ya wasn't glowing, but very fair. GB and Det are both going to give the Bears a run for the NFCN. Of course Det's qb still has to prove he can stay healthy, but if he can that Def is going to be a terror adn the team will win, if he doesn't the will be in a lot of close games, but probably still be in the losing end.
GB is the team that bothers me, they won't be as hurt as they were this year. And they will be better.
As for the Bears, as the OL goes, we go. Give Cutler time and confidence and his footwork and everything else stays fine. You get him hit early and often and he falls apart(just like any other qb), but his footwork really goes to shit compared to those same qb's.
D we should be fine; still don't love our 2ndry, but the DL and LB's will keep us in every game.
We'll be in the running unless injuries take their toll on us.

I'm with cooley in the 'until detriot actually wins, don't beleive the hype" bandwagon.. they had a god awful secondary and oline, and didn't improve either in the draft- so not sold on the hype yet- and if they don't get 1-2 more Olineman before year begind staaford will be gone before september ends again, and so will the hype. And almost all the injured packers were scrub guys, so that stats gets waaaay overplayed, only finely and grant would be starters coming back, so again think people make alot more of that becuase packers abused the system and IR'ed all these scrubs,,
And agree 100% "IF; cutler can fix the footwork and/or have time with a better oline will go along way to making us repeat NFCN champs- the "D" is alwasy fine and forte with a better line can really put up some big numbers

As this football team knows personally from the past several years...a good DL goes a LONG way for making up for a bad secondary. Det's secondary will not have to protect long w/the DL they have. Don't follow closely enough, but last year they were in a lot of games w/their backup b/c of that D....and the D did improve. W/their starting qb healthy they will win games.
As for GB, they might be backups, but they still get playing time and add to depth of a team...just b/c they're not starters doesn't mean they don't play.
I'm anxious to see if the OL can keep improving with just one addtion; even if it is a HUGE addition. I'm also anxious to see the P's line up and reak havoc on OL's in this Div.

The Packers aren't gonna be any worse this year and the Lions are improving so the won/loss records should tighten up. We can certainly compete with GB, we've already shown that and I think the Lions still rank below us despite their improvements. The X factor here is not knowing just how much better this offense will get this year. If Cutler gets the time he can beat anybody with any set of WR's IMO.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

I'd perfer to hurry the F up and see this stupid stalemate end so FA can begin and get a WR that can go up and get one of Cutlers desperation passes rather then test that theory though Soul. ;p

People forget that we have already improved our offensive line in one facet. We have a new LT in Gabe Carimi. As soulman said untold numbers of times, he was perhaps the most battled hardened and pro ready OT in the draft this year. I think we were lucky to get him because of, pardon my saying so, his brash arrogance in saying those things. What I view as other teams' loss was our great gain, and I think we have ourselves a wonder OT for the future.
As for Cutler, most of the times he threw off balance came as a result of not having enough time to step up in the pocket and throw the ball. That one play against Detroit in the video where he threw off his back foot showed that the pocket was collapsing around him, so of course he was desperate to throw the ball in order to get it out of bounds! Yes, there is also the issue of Cutler getting the football quicker, but until we see what we have with the OL, especially whether or not we are going to be able to go out in free agency and acquire ourselves a free agent at OG or make a trade for one, ala. Logan Mankins, then we can't really be sure about too much at this point. This will also open more and bigger holes for the running of the Bears, so hopefully everyone's, Chester Taylor included, yards per carry will get a boost.
Defensive line just got a shot in the arm with Stephen Paea. I can't say enough about what I think of this kid. He literally bullied opposing quarterbacks and running backs throughout his career at Oregon State. While he might not post the overwhelming statistics that a guy like the man-child Ndamakong Suh, who recorded 10.5 sacks as a rookie last season, I wouldn't be surprised if gets between 4-7...anywhere in that range would be fine with me. His strength is what impresses me the most about him. He's going to be able to toss guys around to get to either the runner or the QB. I look for big things to come out of him in the future.
We still are looking for a good CB opposite Peanut for this year. I personally think it is Zack Bowman's job to lose based on past performances, especially if he stays healthy this season. If not, Joshua Moore could probably do an admirable job, and at worst we might have to stick it out with Tim Jennings (and I do mean at worst). The only glaring weakness to our defense was our pass coverage, and we've addressed half the battle by picking up someone who can provide added pressure from the defensive line as he will help the sack totals for the defensive ends to go up (Paea, in relation to Julius Peppers and Israel Idonije). Hopefully, we will have a steady corner back who can adapt to the Tampa Two zone coverage Lovie Smith employs.

disagree about alot of the packer's IR people even played.. players like marshall newhouse, josh bell, brad jones, the always injured and should be cut bust justin harrell, derrick martin, anthony smith never got any playing time( or late round rook's that went IR intead of cut).and guys like tausher, chillar and popinzits were already being phased out and replaced,,, so makes that list of missing players alot less significant than first seems was my point

The only thing that we will see differently out of the Packers this season is that they will have a little more depth. The media likes to prop this team up, and have liked doing so and have thus done so for the past 20 years since that cockroach Brett Favre came out of the closet and onto the scene. Nobody should kid themselves; the media serves as a bully pulpit of what they perceive will be popular opinion because the Newspeak, in Orwellian terms, will no doubt be taken to heart as the gospel.
