Team Pass Protection Rankings
http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog...nkings-part-1/
31. Chicago Bears (2.12)
Regardless of what some may have led you to believe, the Bears line really didn’t get all that much better as the year went on. Both tackles struggled (giving up 26 sacks and 120 total pressures between J’Marcus Webb and Frank Omiyale) and the interior wasn’t much better. Worse still was the negative impact of blocking tight end Brandon Manumaeuna. Thought to be like an extra tackle, he gave up pressure on 12.37% of his pass blocks. If there’s a positive to take it was how good Matt Forte and Chester Taylor were with their blitz pick up.
Pressure Per Play Rank: 30th
Sack % of Pressure Rank: 29th
Average Number of Blockers Per Play Rank: 29th
Brandon Manumaeuna stinks. We really need to get a LG and a RT before we concern ourselves with WR and CB.
I can live with Garza and Kreutz another year.

Thanks for posting this Jeff. Shows that we still have a ways to go as far as improving our pass blocking is concerned.
We all know that Manu was a big FA mistake even moreso than Taylor. Even though Taylor running was crappy he did know enough to pick up a blitz when it came his way. That was one of his few redeeming traits last season but I can't come up with even one for Manu. He's a waste of a roster space. I think we'd be better off using Lance Louis in his spot and save the cap $$$.
As for LG and RT we'll have to see how it breaks in camp if we ever get their. Tice may give CWill another shot at LT and play Carimi on the right side this year although I'd rather see him just replace OMG with Carimi and leave the rest of it alone except for getting a vet OG to start somewhere.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

So with Tice, we have the 31st best (or second worst) Offensive Line...
With Martz we have the 30th (or third worst) offense.
Thank God for our new coaches! They really made us better!

Benji, I nominate you as the official talent scout for DaBears.com.

You can hire Picasso to paint a painting just using a brush and pile of crap, and no matter how well he lays it on the canvas, its still going to be a picture of crap.

Yup. Which is why that, if we can't get an OG in free agency this off season, we should go after Tyson Clabo to replace J'Marcus Webb. I just don't trust that Webb won't fall flat on his face, and he is going to be one of the ones who need training camp to refresh what he picked up last season from Mike Tice. Clabo is a Pro Bowl tackle, and with Carimi manning the LT spot adjacent to Clabo at RT, our only weak spot would be the interior.
That, of course, is a last resort thing. I doubt that the front office would move to do anything out of the ordinary if all the good OG are tied up with franchise tags or if they were tendered. Most likely, they'll leave our offensive line alone and just say, "Well, we got you a left tackle. You figure out to make a square peg fit in a round hole."

Hogwash. I clearly remember several games in which cutler had all the time in the world to throw the ball, but would either end up getting sacked or cause damage for himself in other ways. I think that was even a story for a while, and a debate on here. I still stand by fixing the interior more than anything, if just to have a good running game, which would ease our passing game somewhat.

Lets not forget leading the league in sacks last year and INTs the year before.
