I think we are being overly optimistic about Webb. He was horrible all year long, and spent more time on his backside than he did upright. I have said this several times, but we need to sign a veteran RT like Tyson Clabo to take his place so at least the corners of the offensive line don't get bullrushed and outflanked by defensive ends.

LOL, hey the guy is 6'8 and 335lbs. He has a big ass and knows how to use it. So he's a "Brickhouse" as a RT. Seriously, OMG's appearance is no surprise at all and hopefully the drafting of Carimi solves that problem from the left. As for Webb most of his issues with pass blocking came early as did his issues with penalties as well.
Not many 7th round picks are gonna make the jump from West Texas A&M, a state college in the Division III Lone Star Conference, to the NFL without some bumps in the road. This is kind of like Dave Krieg coming out of tiny Milton College in the thriving metropolis of Milton Jct., Wisconsin and starting in the NFL in his first season. Shoot Milton hasn't even had a football team since 1982 and has only had two of it's alumni ever play in the NFL yet Krieg became a pretty decent NFL QB so I'll give Webb a chance to earn his stripes before I crucify him.

Completely false. Even as hyperbole it isn't an on target assessment of his weakness. His problem was getting torched to the edge damn near every time someone set him up inside early on and failing to pick up the outside assignment when the scheme called on him to do so and hand off his pre-snap man to the OG. When you look back at the tape against the Giants, this is extremely noticeable. Guys were just blasting past on the outside while he stood there barely double teaming a man on his inside shoulder. Yes, he was really bad early -- really, really, really bad -- and not a single person has or would argue that. The reason why people are high on him is because he had a very strong close to the season and he was easily our best run blocker week-in and week-out even when his pass blocking struggled. As for Omiyale being better than him, GMAFB. IF, and that is a giant uppercase IF, he was any better than him at all during the season, the fact that he was 28 and a vet of five seasons (compared to Webb's 22 years of age and rookie status) automatically negates that miniscule margin. He definitely wasn't anywhere near as good as J'Marcus down the stretch. Of that I'm certain.
So, in short, yeah some temperance of hype could be warranted, but the cause for reason is there and things could go either way at this point just like with any young player. However, you consider the kid's upside and factor in his positive progression at OT as the season went on and you have something to build up and support rather than tear down and replace with another 30+ stopgap.

Too bad he did'nt last at Texas. Would have been more polished coming into the NFL. I just hope he takes advantage of his opportunity and does'nt get LAZY. There's a ton of money waitin for him if he works.
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?
A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?

He's one of those guys with everything to gain by working hard and earning his way into a permanent starting role. One thing that he has going for him is that his coach believes in him and is even talking about switching him to that coveted LT spot after only one season. That says something about his upside right there.
If any of you remember, Dallas used to be real good at finding very good talent at small schools back in the days of Tom Landry and Tex Schramm. The scouting combines have taken away some of that advantage these days but we've had a fair amount of success with it anyway. Guys like Knox, Manning, Tillman, Chris Harris and Corey Graham have all come from schools that aren't exactly "football factories".
Guys like this can turn out to be your difference makers when you're trying to build a winning team.
