I would have traded up in the third round for John Moffitt, who played OG on the same offensive line as Carimi at the University of Wisconsin. I know that would have pretty much maxed out our draft picks for the rest of the draft unless we traded down our fourth overall pick for some more late round picks, but then I think that would have been too much for Jerry Angelo to comprehend, since after all, he did f*ck up trading up for Carimi in the first round.

And just what would you have used to trade up with?

On second thought, maybe not. That would have only left us with about three draft picks unless we traded one of the next season's draft picks.

I just wish like hell that we could have gotten another good offensive lineman in the draft this past season. That really kills me. Or a WR. Either one would have been fine with me.

Yeah Benji, but it's deceptive as to how much blame you can lay at the feet of the Oline. I don't really like the way this guy approaches it. Big Ben and Cutler both have a penchant for holding on to the ball, especially Cutler on those 7 step drops that take so long to develop. Look at the ratings of the Colts two OT's versus their overall #1 rating because Manning doesn't hold the ball. I think the Packers would not rate so high on the basis of their Oline play alone. Rodgers mobility and escapability when nearly in the grasp bales him out of a lot of tight spots and make their line look better than they are.

Overall I think this whole analysis is pretty useless when it shows that three of the top 4 teams in the NFL last year didn't even rank in the top 50% as far as pass protection is concerned and yet those teams were the class of the league. They must have done something right when they had the football. Lies, damn lies, and statistics. I wouldn't even give this a second look let alone a full read.
