And on safety that seems to be how it falls either a hitter/tackler- stelz, afalava, gray.. or better in coverage but weak tackler, payne, manning( though manning improved over the years).. if don't have one of the weaknesses than a starter and making millions.
The thing is that we keep drafting these SS types but hopefully Conte is more FS than SS even though there's less of a distinction in Lovies defense than others. The funny thing is that I always thought that Manning would be ther perfect FS because of his size and speed and because he lacked the tackling skills you usually looked for in a SS yet he surprises everyone be becoming a much better SS.

Go figure! But I do get what you're saying. Just wish there wasn't such a big dropoff in skills in his coverage game compared to others we've had. The guy I really wished we could have kept healthy was Brandon McGowan. He seemed to be a nice blend of both.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

ahh mcgowen! a name from the past!.. yeah it was his injuries not play that bears moed on from.. he will always be on my "fave list",, remember the steelers/bear game in 2005? that had the whiteout in pitts?.. we were there and had a blast including snowball fights with the steeler fans, where they kept hitting the other steeler fans near us and we never got hit!( thank god for alcohol at games ruining aim!), we had seats in the endzone and by bears tunnel and after game as leaving tillman and mcgowan were smiling and high fiving us on way out, and both threw their gloves up to us.. which was pretty cool, that gets 'extra points" for hoping a player works out like mcGowan
