think of the potential "f/a" of bears adams, graham, roach and manning.. adams the most likely and first to sign, then expect a quck one for roach.. and then graham and manning will take some time asbeleive both will try and look elsewhere both for money and a starting spot,, and only if can't find that will come back, think adams wants to be here, and if not for lockout, would ahve signed in march

AA and Roach are at the top of my list followed by Graham who I don't think will find an offer for a chance to start on such short notice this year. So I'm guessing he opts for a one year deal. Manning is the one I think most likely to get "an offer he can't refuse" and while I'd like to keep him I'd shed the least amount of tears over his departure.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

exactly, "if" manning coems back be happy, if he doesn't not that big a deal... None of the F/A's are team killers, just slight positives that do add up esp for depth

AA and Roach are concerns because we don't have a lot of depth at LB and NT especially if Pisa doesn't return and either Harrison or Tank Tyler don't step forward. Those are my only concerns but I don't see us not keeping both of them in the fold even if we do re-sign Pisa. I could live with a Safety rotation of Harris, Wright, and Conte this year because I think Conte will be a good player a lot sooner than some expect he will. I wish Steltz would improve too. He always seems to be around the ball but he usually arrive too late in coverage to be of use. Without the speed he needs to have superhuman instincts if he's gonna have any kind of NFL career.

If I were a betting man which I'm not to much of I would put my money on Kreutz being the first the Bears will want to sign followed closely by Adams. There are going to be DT options out there in FA but I don't see any OC options that would be better then bringing Olin back for a couple year contract.

think Stelz will step up on ST this year and provide the depth all teams need, you need players like steltz on all teams , low salary guys, that cn play ST and provide depth, AT A SMALL COST.. which think will always be his niche and nothing wrong with that- can't have or afford big salaries on depth.. its the "catch-22" of league, if depth is real good, then they leave for bigger contracts

The guy is such a liability in coverage though. He can play the SS spot ok but when, in the Bears cover-2, the Safeties split the field and he has deep coverage responsibility he scares the shit out of me. He simply cannot turn and run fast enough to provide over the top coverage. We always seem to end up drafting these big hitter SS types like Bobby Gray, Kevin Payne, Steltz, etc. and always end up dumping them because they can't cover. That's one of the reasons I'm glad we took a guy like Conte. I think his coverage skills may be far better than those we usually grab in the middle rounds.

No argument from me on stelz's weakness.. guess just saying "IF" the depth players doesn't have a weakness, he isn't depth or inexpensive for very long : )
And on safety that seems to be how it falls either a hitter/tackler- stelz, afalava, gray.. or better in coverage but weak tackler, payne, manning( though manning improved over the years).. if don't have one of the weaknesses than a starter and making millions.
