Sadly, due to one reason or another, I have never gotten a chance to see the Bears at Soldier Field, but will be going this year.
My question is, what section is the best to watch a game from? Best view of the whole field and all the action?

depends on what you are looking for, how much looking spend etc..do you like to see overall action( go to middle of field).. and if want to"maybe" esp if get in early, go to sections 133-141 for behind the bears bench to see players and some come over before games..
others esp if can get first 2 rows( 148-155 and 119-126), like the end zone and seeing really up close a goal line "O" or "D" stand and maybe get a high five after a TD..
Others like being up higher and getting the whole field view from sections 333-341( and 434-440 on next level)... alot is personal.. No bad seats in house is the good news
Before game best tailgating is in the 31 st street, but its a distance, if just you and 1 other and walking over or not driving.. then i'd suggest the night before get a styrofoam cooler and at least a 12 pack, and walk over to stadium and the museum lot and water front lots the closet and ask if you can join their tailgate and show them the beer.. have never seen anyone say no, and most like hearing your story about why there and giving you some of their's.. its a fun way to meet ne people and then jsut have a 5 min walk to stadium when want to go inside- which should go in real early, to take in field/statues and the "bears history" on the concourse sort of like a museum, and just walk around the whole concourse( takes about 30 min)
To me, the best view of the game is from the endzone. There's a reason players and coaches mostly study film from the end zone view. Being too close to the field in the endzone makes it hard to watch when the game is on the other side. I'd say in the south endzone, I'd love to see a game from the first row of the second deck. In the north endzone, about 20 - 25 rows up would be best.
My buddy and I want to go to the opening game. Sadly he is a falcon fan. Looking to spend $300 at most.
Checking stubhub we can get 400 section for about $120
Honestly.... I dont care what anyone says. there isn't a bad seat in the house. I've been there before and after and I've been as high up as you can get (in more ways than one) and could see everything just fine.
Depending on where you are in the 400 section, it may not be all that bad. I sat in the low 400 section for the NFCC this year and I thought the seats were nicer than my brothers, which are high up in the north endzone. And Grizz is right, it's not like there's a place where you can't see.
Edit: Just looked it up, I was in section 446. I forget the exact row, but it was towards the front of the section (it was listed as like row 8, but actually the 2nd row) where it wedges. The nice thing about it was that there was no one in front of my view of the field. And my row was only 4 wide, so no hassles with getting in and out.
Sect 444 row 32 is 121 each
Hell if you have a decent camera you can just hit the concessions and hang out for a close up look. I watched the whole 4th quarter of the Bears/packers monday night back in 08' from there..... when it was colder than a witch's titty in a brass Bra.... like 15 below and alex brown's last second FG block sent the game into overtime where Robbie sealed the deal with a 40 yarder or something...
best game of my life. So Freakin cold, close game the whole way, and finishing it in Traditional Bears fashion. Hurculean effort by the special teams.... LOL.
that isn't a bad section , and IIRC 32 is the top row.. if you go in early( doors open at 11:00am), you can usually go down the field right away, get some picks and 'feel" of the place and see the players practing and talking with some friends in stands on bears sideline, the usher's at beginning pretty casual and don't check( and if do just say taking some picks and they let you go)
