Bears interested in Lance Moore?
5) Lance Moore/Wide Receiver/New Orleans Saints
Possible Suitors: Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, Seattle Seahawks, Washington Redskins
Analysis: Moore, who has five years of service, would be a restricted free agent under the 2010 free-agency rules. While the Saints want to re-sign him, Moore should receive significant interest elsewhere once free agency starts if he’s unrestricted.
The Bears need to add at least one veteran wide receiver, so Moore would make sense to pursue. He would be a nice fit for offensive coordinator Mike Martz’s scheme.
The Browns could use a sure-handed wide receiver like Moore. He could quickly become one of Colt McCoy’s favorite targets. It doesn’t hurt that Moore hails from Columbus, Ohio.
If the Giants lose Steve Smith in free agency, signing a similar player like Moore would make some sense. However, third-round pick Jerrel Jernigan, whose style of play is similar to Smith’s, might have been selected because the Giants felt they could lose Smith.
The Seahawks really could use the sure-handed Moore in their offense. They really don’t have a proven player such as Moore on their roster.
As for the Redskins, Moore would fit in well with Washington’s timing-based West Coast offensive scheme. Plus, they have major depth problems at wide receiver.
This would be a good potential move, IMO.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune expects free agent Lance Moore to re-sign with the Saints on a contract worth about $3 million annually.
The contract seems low in light of Moore's production, but the reality is Moore is very much a product of the Saints' system. As beat writer Jeff Duncan points out, Moore wouldn't come close to his current stats in an offense like the Browns'. NFL teams are aware of this. Moore has hit restricted free agency before and garnered very little interest at relatively low tenders. Jun 27, 4:53 PM

My point is that New Orleans thinks they can get him on the cheap, when we could easily be willing to give him a bigger contract. He would fit nicely in our system and provide the kind of steady polished route runner we need. :D

Our very own Wes Welker? Granted he's been very productive in NO but is a smurf WR what we really need? I'm not saying we shouldn't be interested because I don't want Rashied Davis as our 4th WR but unless Fantuz can be productive as well he still lack a bigger WR for Cutler to target.

he would be the typical garbage acquisition JA would make for the offense to guarantee another 30th ranked offense

Well, if we also got plaxico, who would likely be a cheaper acquisition, i'd be all for it. But only if we sign at least one quality guard as well.

lol, I wonder what Mo thinks?
I think he is the best fit and has the track record. If you don't think so you didn't look at his stats. We don't toss it around nearly as well as New Orleans, but he will be a big improvement.
The point to me is matching the player to the system, and for the right bucks. NO is overloaded at receiver and won't pay him big.
This is a realistic choice IMO.
No record, no attitude, no big contract.
The only knock on him is injuries in 2 of his years.

If the guy can perform those sneaky ass underneath routes that Welker is so good at destroying defense with and we can use him that way I'm all for having a guy like that but to me those are if that have to answered by Martz. It seems to me that what he wants in a WR and what Cutler wants are two distinctly different things.
I'm paying more at attention to what he's been asking for yet knowing all the while that it will probably be Martz who'll pull the strings on any deal we do for a WR. Martz seems to be looking for the precise route runners whereas Cutler is content with a big guy who can compensate and dominate with his size and reach.

If he is getting that kind of money then Moore would have a role greater than that of Rashied Davis. Meaning he will take reps away from another WR.
