I just cross checked, and Roy Williams' best years as a WR were in Martz' system. This COULD be another Archuletta incident, seeing as his best seasons were in 06 & 07, but he hasn't played every game in a season since then, either, and if gotten cheaply may be worth a shot.

They were also in a fast dome; but valid point, he did play in Det w/Martz, who knows him and Roy would know the system. I just don't think the guy has the work ethic it takes to be a winner in the NFL. Romo/Fast field did nothing for him. I'd still pass on him. If we do get(please if there is a God, don't) him, I hope its as an FA(don't give anything for this dud) and at league minimum pay.

Hopefully we get the grass situation fixed and maybe he could restart his career via Mike Williams. But like you said, at a very low price.

Do we really want this clown?

Mike Williams had more talent in his hands then Roy had in his entire body, it was his work ethic and being in Det that sucked. Roy had more work ethic, but a lot less talent; and is a lot older. I really hope we don't get this Jag.

Can't say that I have really good feelings about the guy. He's never played as well as a #1 WR should play and if, as Ric says, he's a problem in the locker room then he's not a fit for the Bears. Dallas will take chances on guys like him resurrecting their careers with them. We do not and that's how that story ends.

I personally like the idea of getting Roy Williams myself, although I'm still a little put out by him for what he said about the team back in 2006 when he was in Detroit prior to us playing the Lions. I don't know exactly what he said, but it was along the lines that he was going to have a big day and thus and such. I think the Lions wound up on the down side of a 34-7 loss to the Bears in that game.
Still, he's a good wide receiver even today, and at 6'3", he would easily be our biggest target. I personally have no problem with him. I don't know what his reputation is in the locker room to be totally honest with you, but he can't possibly be any worse than T.O. or Randy Moss. If he can be had at a relatively cheap price, I say go for him. He knows Martz's system, and wouldn't have any trouble acclimating to it again.

I thought i was the only one to remember it, but he stated that it was ridiculous or stupid how close they were to scoring 40 points.

One of the questions surrounding him is just how much does HE think he's worth. He's been a sought after player his entire career so it's hard to see him wanting to play cheap for anyone, even Mike Martz. He's due $9.5 mil this year and he won't get it but there's always the possibility that the Cowboys will offer him a renegotiated deal before they give up on him.
If he is let go let's say for the sake of arguement that he's gonna be looking for a deal that pays him at least half of what he's due to make this year. Is a guy like Roy Williams really worth that kind of money to the Bears. If we want a guy who has the goods to be a #1 WR then we go after Sidney Rice and if not then we go after Malcom Floyd. To me, for the money spent, those are our two best choices.

I really don't think Sidney Rice ends up leaving, and all we're gonna get is a better #2 than the #2 or #3's we have now...
