Even if that is the case as long as it's the right guy we still get an upgrade over Rashied Davis who's currently our #4 guy if we bring him back. I have my doubts as to whether or not Fantuz will be of any help at all so getting a bigger body guy like Floyd would be fine with me. It's still an upgrade because he has the size we lack right now.
I'd like to see a WR rotation with Knox and Floyd as the starters along with Bennett in the slot. Hester can spot Knox when he needs a breather and either Bennett or Fantuz (if he makes the team) can spot Floyd. Anyway you look at it we need another WR in the mix so I can't see them ignoring that once FA starts.

Folks, this is a guy who's greatest contribution to the Dallas team last year was getting injured so that the team would finally see Miles as the true #1 WR option. This guy is a gigantic bag of suck.
This guy has 1 season, 06, where he was clearly better then Knox and therre are people so desperate that they want him? More recently he is barely as good as Hester/Bennett and this is the guy that is going to put us over the top? Sorry not happening.
Dude is not near as good as his talent says he should be, and nothing is going to change in his 9th year.

Nobody's said he's he's a number one, nor is anyone desperate to get him. However, as previously stated, it was in Martz' system that he shined, and at the right price, he may be worth looking at as one of our guys.

That is not really shining though, it was an average to above average showing. It was his best, but his best wasn't that great; and he's a crappy person/teamate to boot.
His best year, not years, year, was 1300 yards rec, 82 rec, and 7 td's, and that was 6yrs ago. All the other year's he was johnny knox #'s. We don't need another stiff just b/c he has size, we need a legit 1, and this guy isn't it. He's TO w/out the talent to put up w/the b.s.

Chicago is a place FA wr's will want to consider. We need a date to the dance but let's not jump on the first gal who fits just a few criteria just yet. He's our desperate booty call at best.

SFB, that's basically my point. We shouldn't be so desparate for a big WR that we jump at anything out there. TO too old/injured/head case, Moss to old/head case, Roy low end talent/head case. One good year in a Martz system(in a dome of all places which is perfect for a wr) isn't anything to jump on. If the talent isn't there, we can wait for it to be. Our WR's need upgraded but this guy is more of a lateral move to slight upgrade at best.

Actually, those were 2 good years in Martz' system, but the point i'm now trying to make is that no one is actually saying we should consider him as the first name on our list. If anything, he should be in the middle or bottom. That is, unless of course we can sign a quality lineman or two and need a cheap WR. If he's not willing to come in cheap (same with Plaxico), then he's not even worth looking at.

For a #1 WR to have 50-60 catches 5 td's and 800 yards considered as fine; that is only coming from a Bears fan who hasn't watched a lot of great wr talents; I might also point out this guy has never played a full season, outside of 06. I agree w/the rest though; but he should be at the bottom of the wr list.

The only way that I would ever sign Roy Williams would be if came as a bargain. He's clearly got the size that we lack in our offensive unit, but because of his history of showing a bad attitude and his lack of production under any system other than Mike Martz, I would rate him as a third option after Rice and Floyd. I would bump him ahead of Plaxico Burress simply because Plax hasn't played in two years.

About the only reason that I'd rate Plax ahead of him is that Plax has been an extremely productive player throughout his career wheras Williams has not. I'm inclined to agree with Ric on this one. A few years back this is the kind of gamble we'd have taken it a guy did come cheap but I don't see that happening anymore. Where there has been a distinct need that couldn't be filled any other way there's been no hesitancy on the Bears part to spend to dollar for the best. If Rice is out there I can't help but think we'd have an interest.
