Roy Williams as a WR Possibility?............

An NFL.com article by Jason LaCanfora lists a number of players who may become cap casualties and cut by their respective teams before the season begins. One of those is Dallas' WR Roy Williams who's due to make $9.5 mil this year.

If they don't offer him a restructered deal and they do cut him is this a guy who might be a fit for the Bears? He has the size 6'3" 215lbs and at age 29 should still have several good years left. He's been a major disappoinment in Dallas and not worth the kind of money he's due but could he improve the Bears WR core if the price was right?
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

    I thought this was funny:

Roy Williams wants to get back the ring he mailed to girlfriend
    By Chris Chase

Dallas Cowboys receiver Roy Williams is going to court to get back the $76,000 engagement ring he gave to a former beauty pageant winner.

In February, Williams proposed to his girlfriend, Brooke Daniels. When she turned him down, Daniels didn't return the ring. According to Williams' affidavit that was filed in a Texas court last week, he asked for the ring back but was told by Daniels that she had lost it. An insurance investigation later revealed that Daniels' father was in possession of the ring.

Michael Daniels told the Odessa American that his daughter will return the ring to avoid the lawsuit even though he says he has documentation saying Williams told her to keep it.

Pretty standard stuff, right? Minus the price tag, this is a dispute that probably happens every day in the United States. Except it's not because most people don't propose the way Roy Williams did.

    From the Odessa American:

Williams has declined to comment for the story, but in an affidavit signed by Williams, he claims he sent $5,000 for school and dental bills, a baseball for Daniels' brother and — as a surprise — a recorded marriage proposal with the ring through the mail just before Valentine's Day to Daniels. However, when Daniels declined the proposal, she did not return the ring.

He recorded a marriage proposal and then sent the ring through the mail? Unless you're a soldier stationed overseas, that's just about the lamest thing I've ever heard. If you proposed through the mail, wouldn't you not want other people to hear that? I'd consider eating the $76,000 just so I didn't have to tell anyone.

It's a shame Daniels is giving the ring back and avoiding trial because we may have learned the specifics of how Williams went about this process. Was there production value in the video proposal? Did he record it in song form? And how did she reject him, with a return receipt?

I could see a big boost in our WR production with a receiver like Roy Williams. One of the reasons he has seen his production slip is because it seems like every other pass that Romo throws is to Jason Witten. You can't expect any wide receiver to get major production when the offense in question has such a dominant tight end. If someone has this down, does anyone know how many times in recent years that Jason Witten has led the Cowboys in receiving yards and receptions? I bet it's a whole bunch.

On the part of Roy Williams' wedding ring debacle, I can only say what the Monday Night Countdown crew says in order to properly articulate my feelings on the matter: C'MON, MAN!

Yeah it was probably not the best way to propose to someone you want to spend the rest of your life with. It was a "Come on Man" thing without a doubt unless he had a very good reason for not doing it in person but than again we don't have the entire story on that. As far as the ring is concerned though she does need to return it despite what he may have said initially.

In most states an engagement ring is considered an irrevocable gift only if it is accepeted with the proposal of marriage. If the proposal is turned down or if the engagement in broken by the bride to be, legally the ring must be returned. To me keeping something that was given with a promise of eternal love and marriage should not be kept as a souvenir of the relationship or for it's monetary value. That's pretty poor form and only makes the woman look greedy and/or unappreciative of the man's gesture.

Whatever he reasons for declining his proposal keeping it makes her look very bad IMO. I thought most beauty pageant winners had to have better morals and principles than that. Or are those just part of their fake smiles and parade waves too?

That's one of the reason LaCanfora gave for why Dallas may not choose to keep him. He isn't a top go to guy in their offense. To me the real question is why and whether or not that would change if he became more of a focal point somewhere else. If we don't score anyone in FA and Williams becomes a later cut he may be looking for a deal and may sign a short term one just to hook on somewhere to keep his career alive.

They're really good gals once you take out the sex tapes, secret nude photos, and colossal materialism. After that they're right up there with the succubus.

This guy was a jag in Det, and in Dal, where he has a dec qb throwing it to him. He's also a douche of a teammate. He gets drilled in Tx for being crap on and off the field.

Thanks Ric. I admit that I don't know much about the guy but for all of his potential he never seems to have reached it either in Detroit or Dallas. His entire career he's been getting #1 WR money but barely giving #2 WR performance.

I guess if we're gonna get a guy who is really still just a #2 guy then I'd rather take the best and to me that's still Malcom Floyd. Thanks for the input.

NP. I thought he would have a real chance in Dallas, ecspecially since he started out opposite of TO and/or Witten. But he's just got bad hands, and doesn't have a lot of leadership potential. Nothing is his fault, and he was insane enough to say that the gereatric backup should be given a legit shot to start over Romo....dudes nuts and a locker room cancer.
