Why did Gil Brandt forget to mention C Tim Barnes (Missouri) in his article?

Dags as big a Badger as I am I do not want John Clay at all. He may have been a battering ram in college but his lack of speed (4.8 forty) and his lack of niftiness won't help him at all in the NFL. When you carry that kind of size you still need some speed and moves to make it work in the NFL, ala Brandon Jacobs, and Clay lacks that. He's strictly a one speed downhill runner. The Bears would be a lot better off signing the Packers John Kuhn in FA. That guy is as good an NFL FB as you could ask for.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Good question LB. I thought he was one of the better OC prospects.

Clay blows. He's spent his entire career behind one of the best OLs in the Nation, including THE best the past two seasons. Any line that would have forced him to squeeze through shrinking holes or make his own holes, and he would have been fucked.

I'm with you on the punters as well. Weatherford could be a UFA target but there must be a few rookies worth looking at if we can't land him.
Sanzenbacher would be the 2nd coming of Tom Waddle. I'd go after LB and o-linemen 1st, but if he's available ..... also wonder why I never hear the name Armon Binns ( 6'03 WR Cinn. ) mentioned anywhere.

What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?

    A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?

I was a fan of both in college, but scouts question Kris' functional strength at a pro level as well as durability and Barnes was a big school player who nobody thought enough about to even bother inviting to the Combine or Senior Bowl, which says a lot.

Clay is, as I said, an absolute battering ram. He weighs about 240 lbs, and he can knock a few guys down who are in front of him. I don't know that I agree completely on this assessment. Now, signing Kris O'Dowd or Tim Barnes sounds intriguing. I'm interested in seeing with another year of seasoning and strength conditioning what either of those two would be like.

Edit: I stand corrected in that Clay was a slow runner in college (4.8 in the 40) and was mainly a downhill runner.

Sox hit the nail on the head too. Clay is another Ron Dayne v2.0, if even that good, and Dayne could do nothing in the pros. Once the Badgers started using Monte Ball and James White, Clay's carries diminished considerably. He's just a very productive college player won't won't repeat that in the pros.

Here's an update on some of these top 20 from another source. Some of these guys have already committed to teams. Here's what I have so far. I'll update the list when more info comes on line.

LB Mark Herzlich - Ravens (shit)

    SS Deandre McDaniel - Saints

    CB Kendric Burney - Panthers

    SS Joe Lefged - Colts

    SS Jeron Johnson - Seahawks

    WR Ricardo Lockette - Seahawks

Report from John Clayton says teams can sign UDFAs right now (since 6PM ET).

I'm on my phone and too lazy to copy the link, it's on ESPN's site if anyone wants to see or post it.
