    F.A. WR's and Mankins

Assumming this shit hits the fan as scheduled ...

    where do we go?

Shit .. we want Mankins and Asomugha and that would be a pretty good F.A. signing.

But lets be goddamn practical here ... we may get one ... but if we got both ...

Angelo is a SUPERSTAH for the next ten years.

Thing of it is ... is theres a swath of WR's out there right now ...

now who do you bring in and whats the pay scale?

What has Tice been up to ... in terms of signing castoffs that nobody wanted.

This is a guy that took WEBB and made him a STARTER ...

who started in the NFC Championship ...

whoa hold on a goddamn minute here ...

are you seriously going to say to me ...

that Tice took a loser and made him a STARTER?

Do you realize what you are saying ...

that Tice, could make a loser like Herman Johnson into anything?

What if we added Carimi into the mix?

Now just hold on a goddamned minute here JJ ...

    are you seriously saying ...

that Tice knows how to build an OFFENSIVE LINE with what he alreary has??

And that MANKINS ... although nice ...wouldnt be needed?

Youre out of your fuckin gourd JJ.

Ok ... I can deal with that.

Too bad neither Asomugha nor Mankins will be coming to Chicago. Asomugha is a cover corner and thus doesn't fit our system; on top of that, he's far too expensive for what we want. Mankins is franchised by the Pats and will likely be too expensive for the Bears flavor. Most likely, we'll focus on getting another established OG, a WR, and maybe someone else in free agency like FB John Kuhn of the Packers.

    Chicago Bears

Ok I agree that neither are coming but to say Asomugha wouldn't fit is silly. Trust me he could play corner in our defense.

Asomugha might be able to learn a Cover 2 system, but he has always been a man-to-man CB, so no, at his asking price and for what he's good for, he doesn't fit us.

Jackie I applaud your sentiment but I don't believe Mankins nor Asomugha is feasable. I would think the best case scenario would be in FA a LG, WR, FB, and P.
However, if Rod was going to evolve the Lovie 2 to include a man to man zone variant I would welcome trying to obtain Ashmugha. I think that would be a nice tactical change up.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

The concern is that DEEEEETROIT and G.B. is looking at him. I dont want him on those teams.

If we have to get out the checkbook to keep him away from them ... then lets get out the checkbook.

If he signs somewhere out of the NFC North ... then problem solved ... lets hope he does.

Lets also remember what a lineup of Peppers ... Paea ... Urlacher ...Briggs ... Peanut ... Asomugha ...

    could look like.

    WOW!

MEANWHILE ... back at the ranch ... F.A. Wide Recievers in abundance ...

bring some in or bring em all in to see what fits with Cutler?

The Offensive Line? I would defer to WHO built last years Offensive Line ...

Mr. Tice ... you have built last years Offensive Line ... garbage made into gems ...

what I'm thinking, is Carimi is a no brainer ...

but you still hold that Herman Johnson up your sleeve ...

do you see from him WEBB ... that everyone knew was a loser?

You saw somthing else or why would you sign Herman Johnson?

This is going to get very interesting when training camp appears.

I don't know about signing a player just to keep him away from another team. Think he would have to be far more productive than just that. I would love to see Herman Johnson become a star but I don't think lightning will strike Tice lol.

And who is to say that Asomugha would be as good as a Cover 2 corner as he would be as a man-to-man style corner? That's an awfully big risk to take.
