NO
He can't be a RFA. This will be his 6th year in the league.
Part of the problem at WR is the lack of supply when it comes to true #1 type guys. Look at the thread I posted on the FA's.
You've got Rice, Holmes, Edwards, and Steve Smith (Giants) rated as the top 4 guys at WR and all have some issues either injury or personal. Other than these 4 all the rest are #2 guys or former #1 guys on the downside of their careers. You know that the Jets will do everything they can to keep both their guys and there's no way the Giants will want to part ways with Smith and he's also a huge injury risk so that pretty much leaves Rice at the top of a very expensive list. I just don't see them spending the $$$ that's all.
To me Floyd would be the logical choice but maybe with Manning expected to leave they're looking at Smith's KR skills and the possibility that he might be a decent complimentary WR in this catch by committee bunch we've got. I'd love for us to get a #1 guy who actually scares people but I just dont' see that happening this year guys. The big $$$ needs to go towards the line.

those issues dont make an excuse to go for a number 5 wr..................I mean I would rather just have Rasheid Davis back.

Uhhh, I have the sudden urge to bash Jerry Angelo.

I cant wait to see the report we are heavily interested in a G that was a bench warmer the past 4 years but we believe could start...........................like the genius move of outbidding ourselves for Omyale

They should just go out and get the best ST they can have. No middle guy that does mediocre things in many areas. The only FA from the Jets we should go after is P Weatherford.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

We need ST guys so you'll probably get your wish, LOL. I'm not in favor of upgrading this way with a guy who hasn't shown much evidence of being an NFL grade WR but I also can see the reality of who available vs our needs. If we want small and experienced we go after Moss if he doesn't decide to stay in Washington. If it's big and experienced we should go after Malcom Floyd.
That's who it should come down to with an outside chance at Braylon Edwards but I'm just a messenger posting the message that we may all be very disappointed in the direction the Bears take in this regard. There's no doubt that Brad Smith is a good athlete and a good football player but he's not really what we need to upgrade a mediocre receiving core is he?

Im being prepared to expect another bullshit offense is what has me stressed by this. 30th ranked offense deserves better attention then roster trash that wont make a difference. Cant wait for their oline plan lol

I really don't know what it's gonna take to get them to pay attention and money towards building a better offense. In the psat few years whenver we have made a FA investment in the offense we end up with the worst possible players imagineable. OMG, Taylor, and Manu shouldn't even still be on the team.
We save $1 mil against the cap and about $2.6 mil in cash by cutting Manu and if they don't at least do that this week I don't think they've got a clue of what they're doing. We're almost $40 mil under the cap and most of the guys we want to keep aren't in their prime and seeking huge deals. Some of that excess has got to spent improving the offense and although I'm prepared to be royally pissed off I'm still hoping that I won't be.
