Bears sign 19 rooks.

The Bears on Tuesday agreed to terms with 19 undrafted rookie free agents.
The group includes 10 defensive players: Tackles Corbin Bryant (Northwestern), Jordan Miller (Southern) and Sean Murnane (Central Michigan); linebackers Tressor Baptiste (Texas A&M) and Deron Minor (McNeese State); cornerbacks Antareis Bryan (Baylor), Mike Holmes (Syracuse) and Ryan Jones (Northwest Missouri State); and safeties Winston Venable (Boise State) and Anthony Walters (Delaware).
Players are on the offensive side of the ball are centers J.C. Brignone (Mississippi State) and Alex Linnenkohl (Oregon State); guard Ricky Henry (Nebraska); tackle Josh Davis (Georgia); running back Robert Hughes (Notre Dame); wide receivers Travis Cobb (Arizona) and Jimmy Young (TCU); and tight ends Kyle Adams (Purdue) and Andre Smith (Virginia Tech).


Any of these OL guys that could stick? Talked to a friend of mine who is a big Nebraska fan, said Henry is hyper agressive and considered by some a bit dirty. Anyone know anything else about him and the rest of these guys?

Georgia fan here - Josh Davis is decent at the college level, which means he needs work at the pro level. Gotta have some faith in Tice though after last year.

No mention of the Ohio State receiver here. Another thread says lots on him that looks promising.

Andre Smith is a very good blocking TE. Has been effective in the red zone, but not much of a receiver.

I recall seeing Venable making some good plays for Boise State last year.

That's what I've got, but I'm no scout. I am indeed aware that these guys are likely camp fodder, but if we keep a few then :thumb:.

Well, I certainly like his 36" arms. Also not to disagree here, but why do I keep hearing that last one? Because he made chicken shit out of chicken shit? The guy also kept OMH at LT all year when we had another option that deserved looking at in CWill. I understand he felt OMH was one of his five best OL that needed to be run out there, but when a guy is that horrible, you re-think your best five and make the moves necessary to fix it.

I think JaMarcus Webb was why I was giving him credit, but your point is just as valid.

Not that I am a Line expert, but I think C Will has proven he is not a starting LT. He was horrrrrible at it; not that OMH was great mind you, but I think the idea is that Cdub is better suited at guard then tackle

He was very good at it during his only extended look there to close out the 09 season. That's all the proof I need to say he deserved a longer look. Henry is aggressive, but I wouldn't say dirty. I didn't think Bowman would be that great when we first grabbed him, but he surprised me for awhile. I'm happy we grabbed Henry, but we'll see if anything comes from it. Hope it does.

Bear in mind I'm a big ND fan, but the signing of Hughes makes me pumped!! He is the bruiser / freight train running back we need.

Well I was just going off what my Nebraska Honk was telling me. I'm not expecting anything out of any of these UFDA's, but if anyone sticks all the better. More on the OL side then the rest of them.
