Guess it's time to make a trade and give up draft choices is all I can think of,something needs to be done.

Mankins is franchised too. Your only choice would be to go to the Pats and ask permission to talk with him about a long term deal. If he agrees to something we can live with then we have to see what the Pats would take. The Pats love to stack up choices so it's not an impossibility but I don't think you'd ever get him away from then for less than a #1 and maybe more.
JA has said that he wouldn't give up future choices so if he sticks by that it's not gonna happen. I said before the draft that I would give up our #1 for him and I still would give up the 2012 #1 for him but I don't think Angelo will. He's pretty much all that's left but I think too much money and too high a price.

The cupboard is bare of all of the younger higher rated OG's that we talked about all spring long. Unless they were never in JA's plans to begin with (and that's hard to believe) then I guess he fvcked up. And now he swaps Kruetz for Spencer as makes things even worse and he had to be trying real hard to do that.
Day by day, hour by hour, and minute by minute Jerry Angelo is downgrading the offense with his moves. I can't believe in any way, shape or form that he and Tice think they have better players already on the roster than what they could have gotten from what was out there.
Soulman, according to NFL Network, Nicks is a free agent. It didn't specify whether or not he was franchised or a restricted free agent, but it did say that he was a free agent. I am just telling you what it said.

Sorry Dags I owe you an apology. They didn't need to franchise him after all. He's a RFA and they tendered him at the first round level so if he's signed to an offer sheet which they don't match his new team gives up a first round pick for him. So of the remaining top OG's he and Mankins would both cost big $$$ plus a pick or picks. If JA is gonna make an improvement this way he only has these choices left but if you read what he said in an interview about Kruetz that's not likely to happen.

The chance that JA is at this point gonna pay big $$$ + at least a #1 for either Nicks or Mankins is about as close to ZERO as one can get.
Blalock was the last OL-upgrade hope (he was UFA I believe) and that disappeared yesterday. Basically, JA handed Tice a bowl of shit and a can of whipped cream and said "make dessert with this".

Yeah, I agree with you. He'll never spend the money and the pick for either of them. The best hope in a bargain that's left is Matt Light. It won't help the situation at OG but if Carimi can't handle that LT right off I'd much rather have Light as a vet backup plan than OMG.
What's really pathetic is what he said in his interview about Kruetz. He actually said that Olineman were hard to come by and that replacing Olin with Spencer was the best he could do, LOL. Do you believe that shit? I can't believe he said it. It's an insult to my intelligence.
