He's been replaced. Good bye and good luck, Olin.

He was a team leader and he knew what he was doing in the game; even if his skills are no longer pro bowl, w/a better OL around him he would have done fine for another 1-2 yrs until we got that replacement in line.
Same w/Olsen, he wasn't the best TE in the NFL, but he was the best big man we had and we replaced him w/a stone hands jag in RW. It's just a bad move compounded by another bad move.
That's about all it seems we've done so far. As far as I'm concerned not one player we've signed so far provides an obvious improvement to this team. Not one! I agree that there is potential in some of them like Gohlston and Okoye to dramatically improve our defense at certain positions but I see none of that with the offensive players we've signed.
Olin Kruetz was a top 100 free agent, a top 10 player at his position, and the heart on soul of the Bears offensive line. Chris Spencer is none of that. How is this supposed to improve the Oline?
Roy Williams as a trade off for Greg Olsen is only good if Martz can get something out of him that has been absent for the past five years. If he doesn't play at least close to being a #1 WR we made a bad move.
Marion Barber has always been a much more productive power runner than Chester Taylor but he struggled to do much better with Dallas than Taylor did with the Bears. There are those who think that the mileage he's put on his body with his running style and his injuries have spelled the end to a once productive career. Despite that I'd take Barber over Taylor in a heart beat.
We couldn't give Olin Kruetz $500k more on a one year deal but we can sign 29 year old Barber to a 2 year $5 mil deal just after we spent $7 mil on Taylor last year and neither of these guys is a starting RB! That guy is due for an extension that will cost another $40 mil in all likelihood.
This is the sum total of our improvements on offense so far this past week. No OG, no OT and addition by subtraction at OC. Great work on that number one priority guys. Well I guess now you should start working on Forte's extension before we lose our starting RB too.

LOL, sorry been a long hot day. I would definitely take Barber over Taylor because he's far more of a power runner than Taylor ever was and that's what we were lacking in 2010.
I guess what I meant by the "not one" is that we still don't know if Barber still has that same punch as a RB. He had some injuries and he wasn't the same back last season in Dallas as he was before those injuries.
If he can't play his part any better than Taylor can he's not an upgrade as much as a lateral move. I think that's what my brain was thinking but my hands were not typing exactly the same. Happens often at my age.

And Spaeth is an improvement over Manu, no?

I really don't consider that much of an improvement when I disagree with Martz's philospophy on the use of TE's period. I think signing Manu to begin with was a mistake and if we hadn't traded Olsen, which I also feel was a mistake, there would have been no need for Spaeth.
As for whether or not Spaeth is an improvement over Manu I don't really know. I haven't seen him play yet by I sure as hell hope so!

Looked more like a question to me.
But, he cant be any WORSE then Manu, so yeah..id say its fair to assume hes an improvement.
Okoye is an improvement over Marcus Harrison...just thought id toss that in there as well.
Podlesh is an improvement over Maynard. hey look at that..that makes 3.
