I think Williams will do well on special teams.

Now we take away a productive receiver and replace him with a guy whose failed with two teams so far and about to fail with his third. This is progress? Shiiiittttt no!
Face it. We can't get too much worse at WR than we are right now. Short of playing Fantuz, we might actually win some jump ball situations with Roy Williams playing for us. But, don't mistaken me as thinking that I believe that he is the answer to all of our woes. That would be like reliving how George Steinbrenner called up Lou Piniella in the 1986 season and said to him, "I just won you the pennant! I got you Steve Trout!" We should have gone after either Rice or Floyd, but instead of going for medium rare steak, we settled for burnt hamburger.

I'm just going to let this one play out, you know, on the field. Like I've already said a couple times, I just don't know how to feel about this. I guess I just don't feel so strongly either way about Roy. Yeah, he's clown shoes and has faded like crazy, but that fade started with his separation from Martz and I'll take clown shoes if you can play the damn game. I kind of compare this to how I feel about the Hawks and Carcillo. I'm not a big fan of the player, but if you look at what it does for the team it has the potential to make a lot of sense.

There's no choice now but to let it play itself out on the field and if I turn out to be wrong about him admit it but right now my feelings are very clear. We gave into Martz's requests for certain players last year and it was an all-time disaster. If he would have improved the offense as a result of those moves I could see another go round but that's not what happened. Manu was a complete failure, Collins was even worse than a failure, he was a fvckin' disaster, and Taylor was the worst RB in the NFL with more than 100 carries.
So how many more chances do we give Mike Martz? Frankly I'm astonished at his powers of persuasion. I think we're making a huge Wanny like mistake trusting the offense to him and I hope I'm wrong but so far I haven't been. He's not the right guy for this team!

I think signing Sims Walker would be what we need to finish our WR spending, which along with Roy would improve our offense over last year. With these two under our belt, at the very least we're gonna know we have our best players on the field at wideout. As has been stated, Roy Williams had his best years under Martz, and if you consider the fact that the Cowboys had Miles Austin emerging and Jason Witten (a pass catching TE, which would be nice to have), he was a bit lost in the shuffle; Dez Bryant being drafted and having such an impact is what really sealed the deal. I think the offense can actually get even better even if these (and i'm saying that we sign sims walker, and not counting sam hurd at all) guys are just more #2 guys, we'll still be fine, as Cutler was able to find the open WR better than any other Bears QB last year, but I hope to god we can sign one or more non-backup/insurance o-linemen to protect him longer than he got last year.

Henry, Dallas gave up a 1st a 3rd and a 6th round pick for Williams. That a pretty big investment in one player and if he was anywhere near worth that since he's been a Cowboy why did the even draft Dez Bryant. He's had one big year in his career when he played for Martz and Martz has the team convinced that he can get it out of him again. Yeah Mike, just like you did with Manu, Collins and Taylor right? Mike Martz is the f'ing Anti-Christ as far as I'm concerned.

I'm upset because we traded away a guy who had he been used properly could have been a top pass receiving TE. The Pats wouldn't have been tempted to give us a 2nd round pick for him before the 2010 draft if the didn't think so too. And although our passing game sucks despite Martz's supposed genius in that are in his stead we now have a blocking TE who doesn't catch and a WR the Cowboys gave up on.
To further raise my hackles this comes following Martz's attempt to make do with a blocking TE last year and not throwing to Olsen until Lovie forced him out of his legendary downfield passing game and into a more balanced offense that used the run and the TE to move the chains and periodically stretch the field with Olsen. That worked well enough to get us too the NFCC Game and just short of the Super Bowl and TE's made some big plays during both playoff games.
Isn't it obvious that Martz is stubbornly stocking up on the guys he needs to run that same failed system he started the year off with last season and nearly got Cutler killed? And what pissed me off even more is that he lies about it through his friggin' teeth. Less than two months ago we all read him saying that he would pick up this year where he left off and that both Bennett and Olsen would be a bigger part of his passing game this year and that Hester would still have his place. HAHAHAHA!
We pick up Williams, the Cowboy reject. We hold serious talks with Mike Sims-Walker and also look at Sam Hurd. We sign a CFL big guy and pick up a rookie UDFA sensation out of OSU. Tell me just where Earl Bennett, Johnny Knox, and Devin Hester figure into all of this. I'm sorry but I don't like Mike Martz or the way he does his business and I never have.

I know no one's happy with Olsen being gone(hell, I was ranting for about an hour at work today, even when some high ranking officers came by), but we gotta deal with what they have now. True, Roy's hype was bigger than he could deliver in Dallas, but he simply got lost in the mix, which I feel has a 50/50 chance of happening now. That's not a bad thing, as all we're asking for out of him is to be "the big WR". Granted, Cutler wasn't having him in mind when we got him, but he's hopefully that role player now. One thing we all also knew, is we wereen't gonna go heavy at WR this year, (with that said, we still MUST sign sims walker, end of story) and as long as we sign a few talented Olinemen, I think things'll work out, but honestly every source is painting the Bears as being lost in the sauce, so let's give it a few more days, and if they continually get out bid and all that, THEN we have some serious gripes.

FWIW: According to ESPN Stats/Info, Roy Williams has NFL's highest drop pct. over past 3 years. (Min. 200 targets).
