Where Is The Pre 1985 Mindset ?

I realize that 85 was a long time ago. But for those of us who remember .... 85 was a GOAL, that was CLEARLY communicated ( in no uncertain terms by Ditka) to the 82,83,84 teams . There was none of this " we hope so" wishy-washyness, like we see today. It was MAN-UP if u want 2b on the bus. I don't really hear that out of Halas Hall today . Matter of fact - haven't heard it for decades. Ya gotta put it in their minds ...... b4 you can expect them to achieve it. It's a mind set that any athlete needs time to prepare for. Working hard and blah blah blah... everybody hears THAT. Where's the REAL Super Bowl talk out of Halas Hall ?

They tried that in 2007 after their superbowl loss with that "Unfinished" stuff...didnt work too well.

I'm NOT talking about organisational BS ( my bad ).... I'm talking about a "feeling " , a hard core mindset amongst the players themselves that translates into winning the ultimate ... I've seen shadows of it among current players, but never the I'm gonna die trying thing i saw from the players of the early 80's ... and that's the truth. I KNOW the feeling I had back then ... todays guys have the potential .. but I haven't truly FELT it yet. Trust me ... you'll KNOW when u really feel it.

No, let's dispense with the "I Love The 80's" always lamenting the lack of a championship since '85 and thinking it's the responsibility of the fans to somehow cajole the players into redeveloping the loyalty that once existed in pro sports.

It's not going to happen.

Kids today don't go into college on a sports scholarship with the attitude "I'm going to be a Buckeye! (or whatever university)" No, they're going in with the attitude "I gotta make the pros and get paid!" They could give a rats ass about scholastic loyalty. Same thing with the professionals. They no longer share the fans dedication to the team. That art is long lost and it's never coming back. Wishing on a star for it to happen is a colossal waste of time.

I refuse to give up my sense of humor because someone wants to cry in their beer.

I was there in '84-'85. I was 23 years old and serving overseas.

You should look into something called Second City Syndrome.

And don't ever question another man's fandom. That's bad form, it'll get you responses you never dreamed of and it will drastically shorten the duration of your time here.

Oh .... I'm really scared of my DURATION on a message board. They can ban me tomorrow. Won't miss it. And if the pyning for yester-year is a bad thing then guilty as charged. It's the mind-set of YOUR sit on their ass , and f-u I'm soo great I'm gonna play XBOX all day and have no LOYALTY to ANYTHING generation ( or should I say degradation ), that is one huge factor in whats going on with this nation. ( Heaven forbid you all have to SWEAT for anything ). It's okay though. Just take your shit-turd you- owe- me- you- need- to -impress- me attitude, out into the working world and see how far it gets you .... and not just for a few years ... anyone can do that.
