He's put a lot of hard miles on that body by now and one scouting report I read on him says "he's a shell of his former self".
I have no problem with them bringing him in for a shot at a backup role but I've gotta wonder when they're gonna stop shopping these Cowboy "blue light specials". I'm not saying these were horrible pickups but the reality is that the Cowboys sucked last year and these guys were part of the reason they sucked. They may turn out not to be upgrades at all and I don't want to see us lose good young talent just to keep guys like Barber or Williams on the team.
don't forget they missed Romo. I don't think DAL was bad last year, it was just not their year.

The problem with the Dallas Cowboys was Wade Phillips. He was an awful coach and one of the worst motivators of all time. When Jason Garrett took over the team at mid-season, the whole culture of the team changed, and they got better in a hurry. They weren't going to be world beaters anyway, but they were definitely not as bad as their 1-7 (I think that was how they started the season out) suggested.

He's going to be our short yardage back; which is what he's good at. I'm still not thrilled about Williams; I'll live w/Hurd b/c he is a ST replacement for Davis w/more upside as a WR then Davis had. Williams is a bum though.
If we can sign Nick Nolte we can become North Dallas forty.

I love the Barber Signing! We SUCKED at short yardage last season.

Not sure if Barber still has enough left to give us what Taylor couldn't do. But we've seen that we need to replace Taylor

That being said, the jury is out on the guy, and we need to see if he can stay healthy.
I'm frankly excited to have Marion Barber and Sam Hurd (his first name is Sam, correct?) on board. I think both could be different makers on special teams and in the offensive backfield, respectively. I would probably move Chester Taylor down on the depth chart to at least the third running back position, if not cut him off the roster altogether.
I dont want yards from Williams.. I want TDs!!!

It will be good if Barber still has the ability to be that tough inside runner but following injuries he sustained during the 2009 season he was not that same back in 2010. Maybe, like Forte in 2009, Barber hadn't completely recovered from those injuries last year and that's what cause the drop in his production. On the other hand it could be that his brutal running style has finally caught up with him and that he's not the back he used to be.
I'm hoping that it's the former and not the latter and that since he won't be a featured back that he can provide that inside running ability that we lacked last year. That cost us a lot of first downs and failures to score down on the goaline. We've also got Harvey Unga healthy this year and he's a bigger north/south power runner too so between these two we should have improved our short yardage game over last year.
Frankly anything that allows us the possibility of cutting Chester Taylor is a plus as far as I'm concerned.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

I hope we at least give Unga and Bell a chance. I'm neutral on Barber, as long as that means Taylor is gone, because, again, Bell and Unga weren't given much of a chance...

Everyone and their Momma knows that it was Mac Davis that made that team go.
