If we had landed even one of the OL guys we went after (you know, the one we offered 3 MILLION more than his existing team) that everyone's tune would be different.

Every year its the same old crap. Everyone cries because we don't go after every top name prospect. We aren't the Redskins (who are perenially horrid)... That's what that recipe makes, yet everyone always wants exactly that. I don't get it.

There were 3 other teams that made it as far as we did last year. What exactly are they doing to make these "big splashes" that everyone is crying for?

Do you think a packer fan would ever agree with what the bears admin is doing? (Ok, evernight might, but he's not the typical packer fan). But my point is that the only ones who never think the bears make good moves more than 3nag is a packer fan.

I think evernight was the packer fan he was referring to. Although it was part serious and part in jest you have to admit that this FA period has not gone like any of us would have thought so far. For what it cost us $$$ wise to take the gambles were taking with these guys like Williams, Gholston and Okoye it's worth it if even one of them plays like everyone thought he could. Barber was a little more costly but if he has anything left in his tank he's the perfect compliment for Forte.

What disturbs me and quite a few others is the fact that we completely ignored our needs along the Oline in any way except to make the situation even worse by allowing Kruetz to walk. Spencer is not his equal. We also trade Olsen which just about confirms to me Martz intentions to keep pushing his offensive scheme and a return to his "greatest show" style without the horses to run it with or the field to run it on.

For the most part it's all a done deal now and I don't see where we'll get any Oline help that would guarantee much of a difference so we better hope Tice's guys can keep stepping up more every week. I'm also not convinced that Roy Williams will even come close to playing like a #1 WR but I'll accept the fact that he gives us size if he's able to use it and to hold on to the ball. I don't know how anyone can be very satisfied with the way things have gone though.
