My comment wasn't directed toward you, soulman :). It was directed toward all of those people out there who automatically think he is going to be a dud since he hasn't been quite as durable as Olin Kreutz was for us. The guy was a first round pick after all, so he does have talent. I just don't think that he was getting as much good coaching out in Seattle as he will get in Chicago.

I do not care what the stats said or how many sacks he gave up last year, Olin was really bad on the field last season and the season before.

To me on the field anyone represents an upgrade over Kreutz, off the field is another issue.

I know Spencer is not a Pro Bowler and is not a dominant center, but he is an upgrade because physically he will not be thrown around by the DTs in our division.

I love Olin for his leadership, but lets be honest his playing abilities are done.

You were aware that Olin was playing with an Achilles injury last year weren't you Windy? You played Oline in college and the CFL. How well would you have played with an Achilles that neede surgical repair? The bottom line is that even injured Olin Kruetz was considered to be a better OC than Chris Spencer both in the huddle and on the line. Sorry Windy but I just don't buy it that Olin's days were over.

We made a mistake. If we'd kept Olin and signed Sean Locklear we'd have been far better off IMO. That move would have allowed us to ditch OMG.

I tend to agree with Windy. I don't care how healthy Olin Kreutz is now or how he was hurting last year, his skill set has diminished considerably in the past few years. If he wasn't on the ground from the opposing defense's bull rush, he was committing stupid penalties. I won't miss those parts of him, and like Windy said, Spencer won't get bullied like Olin Kreutz did.

We'll see about that Dags. Spencer may play 20lbs heavier than Kruetz but he has a rep of playing soft and you sure can't say that about Olin Kruetz. Pound for pound Olin was one of the toughest players in the NFL. Nobody bullied Olin Kruetz. I wouldn't count on the fact that just because Spencer is heavier that he's stronger or tougher than Olin is.
