1. OG Leonard Davis, a big physical mauler that has his weight down and can start at OG for a year and match the size of Raji, Suh and Williams.
2. OG Brian Waters, he might be 34, but he is a tactician and is an upgrade at LG over Chris Williams.
3. OT Ryan Harris, he is solid and can play either OT and would allow the Bears some flexibility.
4. OT Sean Locklear, he is not a superstar run blocker, but he is a very good pass protector and can play either RT or RG.
He is not big or physical so I wonder how Mike Tice will like him?
5. OG Max Jean-Gilles, if I knew his weight he would be higher on the list as he has started at LG and RG.
From different points of view Davis and Locklear may represent the best choices on your list. The better choice may depend on which OG spot you plan to replace. Waters is a Ruben Brown type of move and I doubt they go that way. Besided the skinny in KC is that he want to play for Dallas. Harris isn't a bad prospect but he's got injury issues and if you had Locklear (probably a better choice) you wouln't need Harris. Don't know much about Jean-Gilles but ih he has an issue with his weight he won't be very popular with the Bears.
Actually if you could afford to buy two the combo of Davis and Locklear helps you a lot of different ways. Maybe most importantly we could dump OMG and use CWill and Locklear as OG/OT players. Davis fits the Tice profile for a big mean people pushing Olineman and Locklear gives you flexibility.

Ryan Harris just signed with the Eagles.
I like Jean-Gilles because he is big enough and strong enough that he won't be pushed around as badly by the big DTs in our division, but again he has weight issues and other question marks.

My bad, just read he was in Denver this morning and was going to be signing a contract his afternoon. Guess the reporter failed to mention the fatc that the contract was with a different team. lol

I don't know Windy. He's not a full time starter and he has a worse problem with his weight than Davis. You're looking at a couple of boys who need to play at 330-350lbs but can push 400lbs if they don't watch it. The difference is that Davis is much taller and has a different build so some extra weight won't inhibit him as much. If Jean-Gilles plays over 350lbs he's a blob.
Lovie and Tice have been talking about finding OT's who can play OG and that description fits Locklear to a T. Locklear isn't as big as Davis but he's not a midget either and up until he was released he's been a starter. He's roughly the same size as OMG and he has to be an improvement on that turd. Were not gonna get one of the top guys any longer but at least Locklear still rates in the top 20 FA Olineman. Neither Davis or Jean-Gilles can claim that.

Have we ruled out a trade?
JA has an extra 3rd round pick and has been more willing to make a deal over the last couple of years.

All well and good but for who? There were a ton of very good Free Agents who are now signed to new deals. That was the cream of the crop and they cost nothing in the way of a pick. Who do we trade a 3rd for that would be worth more than just holding onto it? Would any team who just signed their own FA OG or OT would now be willing to trade him for Carolina's 3rd? Would we pay that much in trade and the cost of a new contract for a guy we could have had without compensation?
I don't really know the answers but I do know that by not signing someone we made it a lot harder problem to solve. That's not to say that we may not still have that opportunity but I don't know who their targets would be other than those remaining FA's we've talked about.

You have to realize, of course, that Jerry Angelo is so cheap that he is not going to go after anyone else...at least not on offense. If we fail this year on offense, I hope Georgie fires his shit-eating, grinning ass.

Well he's got $$$ to spend and if he'd just stop oogling the defensive talent for a minute or two he might just find one of these guys agents on hold for him.
